Just an old '71 Chevy farm truck. Stock 350, 4 speed granny transmission, 3.73 gears and '67 long step-side.

I like the long steppers because anything in the bed can be easily reached by using the step and I guess because you don't see them that much anymore.

Some day I hope to retire mine and start a restoration on it, but for now it is useful here on the farm.

i do have a soft spot for the long steps. this is the first set of wheels i ever had. i loved this truck!

I lov`em!I`m really disappointed I had to sell 2 or my 3/4t 4wds.I wanted to build one into a long step.I even bought a donor truck for the decent bed and a pair of new tale-off steps.The bed on my GMC is just too nice to swap.But,who knows?Maybe if I still have the bed by the time I restore that truck I`ll swap it.How cool would that be to have an optioned-out Sierra Grande 8`Fenderside K2500?

And here is a truck I should have bought, in retrospect. It was for sale about 1 mile from my parents house. Brought from texas, it had about the cleanest sheet metal on any 67-72 i have ever seen around here (ohio). It was a '72 GMC plain jane long step 1500, ochre in color. 250, 3 on the tree. I somehow have lost the pic I had of this truck's SPID label, but ochre and the interior color are the only options listed. Probably the sparsest option sticker I've ever seen. I really could not have afforded this truck at the time, when I was in college and managing fast food...so I don't feel too bad about not owning it today. However if the chance came again...

Hey Adam,I remembered that truck for sale the second the picture popped up.Those are the exact pictures.Where was that listed and when?That thing had me going,too,either to keep as is or a K/20 body swap.It`s been a few years.

Tim, I took those pics. It looks like they were taken back in the summer of '04. The guy had it for sale for a while but then it disappeared. I think he wanted $2500 iirc, and I believe it ran and drove, but needed a little cosmetic work (the interior was trashed from sun damage) not to mention it looks cleaner in the pics than it really was. There were rust pinholes on the rockers and cab corners and a few spots on the bed. There were literally hundreds of little dings all over the truck, the tops of the rear fenders were especially bad (maybe hail damage?), but it was still overall way nicer than anything I'd ever seen in Ohio before. Not to mention the later model hubcaps that would have to go.
