Smile 41yo MN rust

Hello guys! Thank you for such a wonderful forum! Ive been burning up the search button for long enuf and figured I should introduce myself. I turned 29 yesterday and my grandpa figured I needed a project so in came the 67 Custom to my life. Its pretty bad like most non garaged old trucks in my area but with the help of family and a great local friend/ fabricator I hope to get it as respectable as possible for as little as possible (good luck... I know lol.)

Here's all the pics of its journey from the country weeds and back to town. Its been scrubbed since but Ill show those once I get a little work done.

It looks like a start. What are your plans? Stock? Custom?

Re: 41yo MN rust

You guys are great. So far I'm finding this forum to be the most relaxing of my board addictions to date and I've been a forum member/fan for 12+ years. Thanks again.

Little update on my truck but I'll have to get pics later. Nothing major, just gassing down the motor area, valves adjusted (had a huge knock,) chrome valve cover looking like new with a good rubber gasket, headlight hardware replaced and bulb change, new battery terminals, brake parts ordered, and tools lined up to run new lines myself. First timer but I gotta learn sometime.

I'm having trouble with my starter so if there's a quick answer that would be cool and in the mean time I'll search. The problem is I get a click at the starter like there's a bad connection (random amounts of tries) but I'm using a good Interstate batt, gold stinger battery terminals (leftovers,)
And grounded to the motor. I had the usual cave man instinct first and "tapping" the starter motor doesn't improve anything.

Simple problem I'm sure but I'm really new to this side of the car game (normally a spl/stereo/rim kinda guy if anyone was wondering) and any opinion is welcome at this point.

Re: 41yo MN rust

Welcome from beautiful Western NC! Have you tried bypassing the ignition switch and jumping across the battery terminal to the solenoid? Could help eliminate the starter itself as the problem.

Re: 41yo MN rust

Sounds easy enuf. I'll try that when I get back to the truck or hopefully when I get it home later this week. Its been without brake lines since a block before we parked it and that's sadly 20 minutes from my home.

Anyone in my area that hauls for cheap? J/k guys. I'll hopefully get a way figured out before my dad tries to drive it LOL

Yep. You are pretty close. Good to know incase I need a good pusher haha.

I think I'm stuck with just one vehicle for now. I'm a program director at a youth center I grew up at and there's no money in child care LOL
