ok I just got the engine in and new headers but the common problem is that the header bolts keep backing out. I'm looking for part numbers for header bolts that have the safety wire holes in the head. I know if I can find the part number I can pick them up cheaper than buying a set off the web. I work on aircraft so there are bolts every where but are all fine thread. I need 3/8 coarse thread buy 1" with a drilled head. The head style isn't important.

those that dragtruck posted are for sure a lot nicer than a safety wire birds nest //if u feel u must safety wire them fing someone with a drill bit and drill press to drill the heads of stell bolts

Thanks guys, I know that safety wiring can be a pain. I've been doing it for a little over 20 years. Everything on an aircraft is put on with safety wire. It's an art...lol I was looking at it from a cost perspective. i have bolt that are un drilled. Just thought if someone had pt# I could buy pre drilled... I like the lock set up. Thanks..

Prior military helo mech myself - in my prior life, couldn't find/afford drilled bolts. So I drilled my own and saftied with .032". Looks great and not that hard (except the drill bits were shot). Saw some drilled bolts the other day in Jegs or Summit for 52 bucks. Still seems steep.

I use bolts made by a company called stage 8 they have locking clips on them. Never had a set loosen up in 4 years of running.

If it is a small block you can cut the flanges and it will probably cure the problem. I used to have the same problem and an old racer friend of mine told me to do this. I thought he was crazy but it works. I use stainless bolts now and you just snug them up good and they stay tight.

cut em on the arrows.

I just use lock washers on my bolts. I bought them a McMaster Carr www.mcmaster.com
