What's the strangest thing...

You have found in your truck?

I have had this truck for about 5 months. I took the right inner door panel off to fix the rod that opens the door from the inside. It had always clunked when when closing.

There is no way for this hammer and chunk of asphalt to accidently end up in there.

There is no apparent damage that would allow objects this size to get in there.

On the bright side, the hammer doesn't look too bad.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

I had a 72 GMC a few years back that had a bullet hole in the passenger side floor board with a matching one in the inner fender. At some time in the past a P O shot out his own front tire.

I had the same thing in a '65. It went through the floor and into the backing plate on the right front brake.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

Years ago I picked up a 68 Impala with a 396 in it, the car was trashed but the drive train was nice and I got the whole thing for the engine and trans. While going through it, I found a pile of paper work. The address was close to the house I grew up in, found the names of the people that owned it.
While tellin my mother about the deal that I got, and that the owners were people that lived close to the old house. Told her the names I found, and turns out that the woman worked with my mother in the 70's at the local hospital! She then described the car to a T! Too wierd...

Re: What's the strangest thing...

On a '76 that I have, there is a Custom 20 or Custom Deluxe 20 (or something like that) fender emblem stuck to the side of the frame.

Oh, just remembered the time I was tearing down an engine. Took the intake manifold off, only to find and oil soaked sweat shirt in the lifter galley.

A jar of Vaseline, a strange pink pill, pipe wrench, and safety glasses. Must have been some party. At least they were practicing safe sex.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

A bullet hole in inside passenger door, partial hole in the front inner door frame, and the slug in the bottom of the door. Looks like a .38.

A passenger must have had an accident, and then probably another but more smelly.

Same thing on my 70, looked like the tire got the short end of the stick on mine too. The hole in mine was big enough to fit my pinky finger up to the second knuckle so it was decent caliber.

To take the lid off the vaseline of course I found a pair of extremely rusted screwdrivers inside the fender, below the battery on my '70. Does an inch or so of roofing tar to patch a rusted firewall in a few places count, or is that veering too much into bad PO fixes?

Re: What's the strangest thing...

Back when I work at a service station, a gal pulled in to get something or other checked on her car. I needed some info so I asked for the car manual. The gal got it and handed it to me. As I flipped through the book, there was a "feminine napkin" in it. Three guys and the gal standing there frozen like a deer in the headlights. Not a word was said. I found the needed info and gave her the manual back. As she drove away, we all busted a gut laughing.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

I bought a`70 Blazer for parts about 25 years ago and had it stashed at my friend`s family farm.I never ended up pulling the drivetrain because I sold the Blazer it would have gone in.It was nice to know I had all those spare parts anyway.
The first year or so I owed it I stopped by and took a look in the interior.I had other parts stashed inside.I had my left hand up on the dash pad while I leaned in.When I went to leave I noticed the big black snake layin`across the base of the windshield sunning himself.FREAKED ME OUT!!!! I was always worried about seeing that snake and it caused my not to go out there in warm weather to pull the seats.I never got a chance to get to it in the winter so it sat. Finally this summer I got it out of there. My friend towed it to his house where I parted what I wanted and he got some parts out of the deal.I kept kidding him about that snake I saw 20 years ago.I found some big skins up in the frame and all."SEE??He was a biggun!",I`d say.Well...he was cutting the center of the dash (radio repair) with a Sawzall and a big black snake head popped out of a heat duct and bit at the Sawzall!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How long do snakes live?Could it have been the same one? They all look the same age to me.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

i found a 3lb hammer in the door of a 82 grandprix i bought to tear down . numerous wrenches and vise grips , never found any large amounts of money or drugs . the craziest was a snake from southern oklahoma ( i didnt ask his name . lol ) in a 92 caprice cop car i brought back to nebraska a couple years ago .i was pulling out the guage cluster and when i pulled up the dash pad , there he was curled up on the radio , gold , grey , black , big . ive never got out of a car so fast . lol it was still on my trailer , with the doors shut and i was kinda squating in between the front seats . the next morning it was the local junk yards problem . we tore up the car looking for him that after noon , but he was hid somewhere in that car

Re: What's the strangest thing...

I used to drive a wrecker and we were the impound for several local cities. We pulled a bunch of cars on a private property case for the county constable, several were old muscle cars. In the trunk of a Javelin we pulled out was a stainless brief case, of course curiosity got the best of us and we broke into it there was several pounds of cocaine, a few thousand dollars and a 9mm sigma. We of course had to turn it all over to the county. But the one that takes the cake was a prostitution sting, there was a box full of "hooker supplies" in the trunk. The look on the officers face was priceless.
