Cool 68 and 65 found in TX!
On my recent journey from PA to TX I found something cool. Two aviation fuel trucks in Huntsville,TX. One was a 68 C-30 and the other was a larger 65 C-40/50 maybe?
I wish I had my camera because the 68 was cool with no top and a 12" smoothed cowl... Here are some crappy cell phone pics. The fuel guy said that some company out of Pittsburgh modified them and parts are getting harder to find. They also had a topless FURD as well...

that is what was known as a cowl/chassis. GM sold them mostly to bus builders, and motor home builders.
It was just the dashboad on up to the bumper, and the complete chassis/suspention/drivetrain. Everything else was added after the truck was built. I *think* 68 was the last year for them. |
