I installed this neat piece from member "mahanian" today.

I've been rollin' with a piece of crap wood piece because I couldn't find a better option since 1997!!!

It was easy to install with the supplied template and hardware, but if you have A/C and your dash is already put together, it is a bit of a pain, but very doable

I really like it. It goes well with my interior and the chrome A/C controller.

*Sorry the last pics suck, the sun was coming full force into the windshield.

I thought about that, but I was getting really cold by the time I was done, and me 'n cold aren't good friends! I was in a rush to get back inside

Thanks for all the compliments, but I have to give out mad props to "mahanian" for such a great product! All I did was install it.

Big Al, I WISH I was the one who cut out the dash. It was a hack job and a half! I could have done better with a sawzall blind folded.

I saw the original thread on these plates and I was impressed. Now I am even more impressed!

On the side, I see you have a Lokar shifter. Is there any shift indicator attached to it? Or do you just count the detents?

But it's not hard, it becomes habbit. Lokar makes a shift indicator, but holy crap is it expsensive! The one's I've seen are attached to the boot, which would probably be a pain to see it anyway.

The shifter itself makes it easy to know what gear you're in. It "locks" in P and R so you have to push the button in to shift. I also "locks" or keeps the shifter from going down once it's in 3rd, meaning you have to push the button in to shift to 2nd and first, but you just have to push up to upshift, no lock. I toggle between OD and 3rd manually, a lot. You don't need to push the button in for those gears, just push up or pull back. So, when I start the truck, R is easy to figure out

, then after I get past R I let the button out and pull back until the shifter stops, which is 3rd. An indicator would be nice, but not necessary. And you can't accidentally put it in R without pushing the button in, but you can put it in N. Over the past couple years I've only accidentally put the truck in N going down the highway a couple times
