Anyone ever notice the resemblance?

Anyone besides me notice the HD hood on the GMT800s resembles the 69-72s? Not to mention the body line along the edges of the hood that run the length of the truck flows similar to ours?

Always have noticed this, but never had a good pic to compare. Until today at school

GM should have just kept making the one on the left....no need to improve perfection.

I never really noticed a resemblance until now. I sure like the 67-72 style better though............

Re: Anyone ever notice the resemblance?

I noticed it. The did the same thing this generation of chevys as they did with ours. Low hood for 2 years then raised it. I like my 07 as much as I do my 67. They are just different.

I wonder if GM has ever considering doing an updated version of that classic body style - similar to the New Mustang or Camaro.

Re: Anyone ever notice the resemblance?

This was the 1st thing I noticed with our trucks when I purchased mine about 2 months ago.

Still to this day is one of the features I notice and study most when walking out to my truck sitting in the driveway or in a parking lot.

Re: Anyone ever notice the resemblance?

You know the first hd's (maybe 2000-2002) that had the front end that was completely changed from the half ton look even more similar in my opinion.

They really did, too bad their harder to find to get a good 1st person pic..

But their hood buldge goes all the way to the a-pillars like ours do.

That one you can really see the fender line that runs the length of the body, like our trucks as well.

Re: Anyone ever notice the resemblance?

the black truck shown above my post has the same hood and body lines as a 67-68 nd the grille is even similar
i noticed the similarities 2 years ag when my dad parked my 01 chevy next to my 68
its almost like an attemp to revive our trucks kinda like the new mustangs the camaro and the challenger its like a ruinion for the classic body lines

Re: Anyone ever notice the resemblance?

yeah, ive always wanted to see a retro truck again!

i wish they could litterally build them again, they still have plans and stamps right?

and legal rights to those stamps, why couldn't GM build another '69 camaro, with an updated (LS motor 4L60E) drivetrain and updated interior. the driveline & interior would bethe obvious dead giveaway that it is not a true 69, but how cool would it be?

if they built another '72 truck, with a new driveline out of a 1/2 ton today, with all the creature comforts and a new interior? would you buy that one over a "new" style truck?

i geuss i am polling the wrong crowd

Re: Anyone ever notice the resemblance?

I've always found the standard hoods to resemble the 67/68 while the more upright HD hood resemble the 69-72.

Never the less, it's good to know our truck influence trucks 40 years later

They do, look up the USA1, it's a company that repops entire '69 Camro bodies.

Re: Anyone ever notice the resemblance?

I noticed this a loooooong time ago. I think that's why I love the 99-02 chevy trucks so much too. I've always wanted to put an HD hood on my Silverado.

My grill guard and bug shield kinda take away from the look...

Man, my 67 used to look really nice

I doubt 42 years ago that you could find someone that would agree a 67 C-10 work truck would someday be an icon too...

My grandpa owned SO MANY of these trucks over the years. Run one into the ground, buy another cheap. They weren't worth much of anything in the 70's and 80's, they were still being used as work trucks. I can't really pinpoint exactly when, but it seems that sometime around the late 90's these truck really started popping up everywhere in magazines, shows, aftermarket support started to really kick in... all JMO.

There we go, the non HD trucks of that front end style had the 67-68 look.

Nice pics

Re: Anyone ever notice the resemblance?

I see a vague resemblence. It also mimmicks what the other makers are doing. It`s a suttle seperation between hood and enders like big rigs. They carry the width of the grille into the hood bulge and the lights are in the front of the fender.

I always thought the 99-02 1500 hoods looked like a 67-68 hood also.

Re: Anyone ever notice the resemblance?

I really liked the looks of the '99 - '02 trucks. Unfortunately, some designer had to "work" on the front end of the trucks and they ended up with the "cats eye" look. Just don't like those headlights as well! Still, Bowties are the best!
