Smoothed Dash Panels

Well since the PO cut the radio out on my dash I was considering just smoothing the whole thing since all my heating stuff is gone might as well take the controls out also. I did a search and came across some custom dashes but I was really looking for some smoothed ones. Im still gonna keep my guages and glove box. Or if you have other suggestions thats good too.
Thanks,
Terry J.

Re: Smoothed Dash Panels

I've seen some cool smoothed dashes. You could also find a good uncut dash to graft in. Someone on here was putting an Edsel dash in their truck. It was really cool.

Re: Smoothed Dash Panels

The edsel dash and the impala dash are great ones!! I wish I had half that kind of talent. I thought about grafting in an good dash but that would mean cutting up another perfectly good one which would be a shame. Now I could smooth this one and it would go along with the rest of the smoothed truck was kinda my thought. But hey like i said Im open to suggestions.

Re: Smoothed Dash Panels

I sold an uncut complete dash not long ago. I had taken it out of a cab that was shot. I've got another one that I'm going to take out of another shot cab if I ever get the time. If the cab is shot I see it as saving a nice dash rather than hacking up something.

Where did you make the cuts along the pillars when removing the dash from the 'donor' truck so that it could be re-used? I smoothed mine years ago. It has the opening for a stock cluster, a DIN sized CD player hole where the radio was (in the factory recess), & the stock glove box; everything else is gone.

I'm updating things & will be swapping in an uncut a/c dash but want to get mine out the best way possible so that whoever gets it has an easy install.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Smoothed Dash Panels

I just drilled out the spot welds and replaced the whole dash with an AC dash. I know where a bunch of ac dashes are let me know if you want one

Re: Smoothed Dash Panels

Yeah, I just unbolted it from the sides then drilled out like 30 something spot welds from the windshield lip. It was a complete dash. I'm planning on doing that same thing with the next one. That way whoever gets it can use it however they want.

Hhmm. I just cut mine along the slotted lines that are hidden under the dash pad. I figured you have to weld it back in anyway. Cutting it across seemed like less work vs drilling the spot welds.
