Put To Rest in a 1967 Chevy Pickup

Welcome to Chevroletpedia’s Weekend Edition - today’s discussion: A man in West Virginia has his final wish fulfilled, as he was laid to rest in the back of his 1967 Chevrolet Pickup. I guess God needed a hillbilly.

Albert Dancy Jr. of Clay Country, W. VA. passed away last week at the tender age of 50. As it was stated in his will: the casket (containing his body, dressed in camo, clutching an Old Timer pocketknife and Remington .243 caliber deer rifle) was lowered into a 19 ft long/9 ft wide hole across the bed of his 67 Chevy.

In order to pull this final resting place off, Dancy’s son had to start a family plot on their own land, as no cemetery would allow the one-ton pickup to be buried on their property. The truck was stripped of anything that could harm the environment, including motor, transmission, brake fluid and tires. After being put underground a vault with the casket was lowered into its bed and covered with dirt. Rest in peace sir, your dedication to General Motors was unflappable.

My respect goes for that person. There is a song (in spanish) that I like to hear wich talks about a guy whose last wish is to use his cheyenne as a hearse for when he dies, I wouldnt mind resting in peace in my truck as this guy did.

Not at all, they launch ashes in space and in the ocean.

For a real kicker, if he doesn't smoke, use the ash tray and put your name on the cover panel.

Well...when I kick the bucket...70cstjr is getting the Circuit Rider. if that was a Ford it would be a much better idea but Chevy's are meant to be driven not buried.

A pocket knife ,deer rifle and his truck. I bet he was a story teller after a couple beers. No disrespect intended. Great story and a cool idea.

Re: Man burried with his 67 C10

I heard of a lady back east somewhere about 13 years ago that was buried in her Corvair.
My Dad wants to be buried in his 68 Camaro but I very seriously doubt that will happen.

yeah, but I would rather have my stuff given to a family member who would APPRECIATE it,, not sell it for a profit, that way it can go on and be a memory..

also wonder how long till some good ol boys, dig him up, for that deer rifle and pocket knife?

Re: Man burried with his 67 C10

We lost a member of our car club a few years back... We all took our hot rods to the funeral and to the Cemetery... As he wished before he died when we were leaving the cemetery we all stopped one by one and did huge burn outs.. You should have seen the look on the faces of the people who just didnt understand...
