As most of you know i am an upholstery man who specializes in these vehicles (seat restoration and everything else interior) I am working on a soft top right now that I want to start producing, I will let you know as i get closer to completion with some pictures, I just want to start a post to see how many people were interested, the top i am working on now is similar to the best top tiger tops and the kayline snap tops. it looks like the finished product will probably sell for 900-1000.00. If interested let me know.

Will this be for replacing the material only? I have a Besttop now. What I don't like about it is that the front bow is taller than the rear. This causes a fairly pronounced peak. It would look a lot better if it was closer to the same size.

I would also be interested in not having any windows in the side.

This would be a complete top with all hardware: bows, window frames, the works. while i can make a replacement for your besttop these would be a little different. i agree that the best top would look better if the bows were the same height, i think the reason their front bow is higher is to clear a roll bar. The top will be simialar in the fact that it will be a basic top roll up windows and snaps.

Is this top you are designing does it have a clamping system or snaps for the sides?

Don't go breaking our hearts now. I think you will find that this topic has been covered many times. Many of us our interested, but we've heard about someone wishing to make a top before. Personally If I have to drill the truck I won't buy it. Honestly, I'm not sure I'm a candidate for one. As of now I just take the top off all summer.

I have to agree with Red72. If you search, you'll find this topic discussed quite a bit. Build it right, without having to drill into truck or the tailgate, and you'll have quite a line. Myself included

Would definitely be interested if it required no drilling. Utilizing the stock bolts/holes for the hard top would be where I would start researching for a non-drill top.

On the same note I would be even more interested in a bikini top.

im still trying to get mine to a point that I can start on my soft top again.. I will not driil into my truck. i have dont that enough with my panel replacements

The top i am designing uses aluminum angle that will bolt to the hard top holes with the snaps attached so no drillig there. also it will include a tailgate protector that will keep you from drilling the gate, it attaches in place of the hatch stop. The windshield is the most difficult to try and use the factory holes only and i am also trying some different ideas with the window frames door areas because we all know this is where the tops leak. I am not promising a leak proof top but i want to get as close as i can, especially for when the truck is not being used. The production top is probably still several months out so dont get all excited they will be available next week, but they should be ready to go in the next few months. i will keep you updated. oh yeah, bikini tops are on the agenda as well.

Agreed, If you can build a nice product for around the $1000 price range. I think you will have a winner.

i built a bikini/tanoe cover and fiber glassed angle alum. to bolt to the factory four holes then wrapped it with the material and it came out real good...

Frostie is onto the solution, this is how they make the new convertible tops for the modern Challenger, Saw it on TV last night. The make a fiberglass for to fit the windshield frame.

not to hijack but my top and roll bar are for sale...the sub boxes i built got inthe way and it doesn't fit anymore.

(tanoe is for sale for the right price but i do plan on keeping that...)

i paid 350 for the bar custom built and 360 for the material and labor.

offer?
