Van steering column?

I got one of those van steering columns with out the ignition on it for my 66. I also have a 700R4 for it. What I need to know is what linkage do I need to find to hook it all up? Truck was originally a manual transmission. I have no auto linkage at the moment.

Go here http://www.truckandcarshop.com/trucks60_72/t60_050.html and look to the left side of the column 2nd from the bottom. The part # is 60-06812 "Column Shift Conversion linkage kit"

Re: Van steering column?

Thanks for the link. Is there factory stuff I can look for in the bone yard? From the link above I'm guessing I need 60-72 column shift parts?

Re: Van steering column?

John, that linkage says it converts a 2 speed column to a 3 speed....do you need this for the van column? I would assume the vans were already 3 speed???
I have heard many say they used the factory power-glide column with a 700R4 and didn't have any issue, so now I'm

livinlow, there are van tilt columns out there, and I'm not sure when GM started putting the ignition on the column, but I believe the early-mid 70's were all ignition less (ignition on the dash).

Yes on the tilt part. Not sure what year the column is. Got it from a member here. It was advertised in the 67-72 section.

Re: Van steering column?

It works on the 700R4. I had it on my truck, only because I didn't have all the hardward to do it stock. This kit was easy.
