Re: 72 jimmy top

No such thing as a 67 or 68 top, first year for blazers/Jimmies is 1969.

A 69-72 top will fit all years but there's also two version's of hard tops.

They made a double walled top 69 thru 71 but had a single walled top as an option in 71 and OEM in 72.

Re: 72 jimmy top

So they made a blazer in 69 and a jimmy in 70? also you say oem top on a 72 is single walled, but mine has a double top, does that mean its not oem?? By the way thanks for all info, there is much to learn!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 72 jimmy top

I believe the single wall top was an option starting in '72. I've not come across a single wall on a '71 that was original. just my .02.

'73 through '75 tops will not work.

Look at the SPID on your glove box door. It should tell you what top yours had from factory. From reading all the wonderfull posts through the years it seems that some '72s had only double wall holes, some only had single wall holes, and some had both holes for single and doulble wall tops. Go figure.

Re: 72 jimmy top

Sorry but their was no single or double wall option. Just hard or soft. When they changed from double to single in 72. They used up all their left over double wall tops first. So if you have a double wall on a 72, good chance it was made early in the model year. Like mine.

Mine has single wall but has holes for both. does have plug for dome lights so I believe it came from factory with single since double wall has no dome lights.

This is what I have always heard too. AFAIK, softtops were dealer options and wouldn't be listed on the SPID.

Here's my SPID
