Indy Panty Dropper: 1978 K10 w/ 12" of Lift on 40" Swampers

Hello to the board.

I finally got my username approved after waiting for about a week. I've got a '78 Chevy K-10 with 12" Skyjacker Suspension Lift and 39" Swampers.

The motor has been totally re-built by the last owner, and it has been totally "refined" by me. I don't have pictures yet of the motor being done.

Here are my pics. This is basically the start of my project. I bought it at the END of another man's project, but for me, this is just the beginning. By the time I'm done with it, I want it to be something totally unique.

Looks like a good foundation and the new grille is going to be an improvement over the repop.

Re: Introducing my Project: '78 K10 on 12" of Lift

First Update.
Got the truck back today from a friend of mine's shop.

New Carburetor, manifolds, intake, switched to electric choke, fixed a ton of small things.

It's much easier to start now, runs stronger, goes faster, more powerful, much more reliable.

nice truck! looks real sharp
you might want to look at some ceramic coated headers to finish off that motor

Sweet lookin truck Anadrol,

You may want to think about installing a ignition interrupter and do away with the chain. If someone wants that thing bad enough they'll snatch that little trailer right down the road or in half......

That pic is from when it was still with the old owner. I have installed an engine interrupter, and it's also in a much safer neighborhood now. No chains anymore!

I thought the same thing, but didn't want to say anything. I thought maybe it was the PO's idea of an anti theft system.

Re: Introducing my Project: '78 K10 on 12" of Lift

Those headers gotta go. They're the only thing that makes the engine still look dirty. But replacing working headers is not a priority right now. We wanted the truck to run first, then be fun to drive around.

I will now tell you what is planned for this truck. When I say "planned" do not mistake this for a kid with no money dreaming of something that won't happen in the next 5 years. This stuff is about to happen:

1. Power locks and windows + better security system.
2. Complete custom dash. We are ripping out the entire dash and building from scratch with fiberglass.
3. Alpine touch screen head unit in the middle, auxiliary monitor in front of passenger, component speakers all over (center channel in the dash, highs and mids in the kick panels, speakers in the doors).
4. New door panels
5. Some sort of system inside the bed of the truck, using a tool box to hide them.

You must be a subscribing member to make "For Sale" posts. Please consider supporting the board by subscribing.
We want the outside of the truck to look totally like a '78 mud truck, but the inside will have all new amenities. This isn't a show truck, it's a show-OFF truck.

nice starting point, for the wires I would go black unless you decide to color match the engine parts then blue wires

Great looking truck. Be sure to keep us updated on your progress. Like it so far though. What are doing with the door panels? The tweed ones look good in the pic.

By the way: Start a true build thread on here in the projects & builds section. I think you will have a lot of interest in a very nice truck.

Beautiful truck. I love the look. For the wires, I would go with a red, orange, or yellow wire. Or, if they even make them, white wires.

Cool. What's the cheapest set they have for a V8?

Too bad you couldn't run plug wires like Jesse James did on his bike from Motorcycle Mania I. He ran neon tubes for the plug wires. They were custom made of course, but I think they would look sweet as plug wires, especially at night.

black..the ones that are on it look good. upgrade for performance like moroso race wires. colored wires get dirty quicker.dont even think of putting anything neon on that truck. its not 1990 anymore.
