I have joined the ranks of the 67-72 guys...

Heres my newest project...I havent thought of a cool project name yet...but here is the new "shop truck" that will be used as an acutal shop truck..







The truck is a c-20.The strange part is it has trailing arms and coils.Were there any trucks built that way?

The rear axle looks like it has factory welded panhard bar bracket and the axlle saddles look like they are factory also.

It has the same rear axle as my 65 1 ton truck.It has a swapped in v8 on modded 6 cylinder mounts.

My plans are to swap in later model disc brakes with hydro boost. Taller coils in the front. Id like to find some factory 8 lug 19.5" wheels and do a power steering swap of of donor mid 80's dually.

I am looking onto swapping out the rear coils for some larger rolling sleeve air bags like the ones I used in my 97' dually.

I dont plan to do much with the body other than have my shop logo painted on the doors.

Let me know what yall think of it. good bad or indifferent..

I like it. the only thing I would change is to paint the wood stakes white and the rear rims white. Would look really clean. But it will be an awesome shop truck. I was going to open my own business and planned to buy a flatbed and do a similar theme...but decided against my own business in this economy...

That looks very, very clean. I would guess that most of those trucks like that were abused over the years. I wish the body on mine looked like that. Looks very cool to me.

I plan to swap out the green wheels for some newer mid 80's wheels later this week...I will be painting them off white also!! The color on the racks is still up in the air..I was thinking about changing the color to an off white also just need some one to photo shop it first...I plan to also powder coat the 19.5"s when i find some. I know american force sells them new but kinda want to find some used of a bread truck or something..

Back in my earlier years(I was 18,now 32) i dated a girl who showed horses. Her and her brother both had 67/68 dually flat beds hers was an emerald green her brothers was a saphire blue. There dad built them each one. She used hers for hauling her horses..They looked just like yours other than the color of course..

I think if you rebuilt the wood bedsides and kept them "natural" looking with some clear polyurethane, and shiney new hardware that would be cool....

Do you by any chance have the spid (build) sheet still attached to the glove box door?

It looks like your wheels have already been changed out. From the factory they probably would have been a two-piece wheel.

You may have a pretty rare truck! I was told that GM didn't build a 3/4 ton dually truck even though my build sheet listed it. The distinction is (aside from the badging) the 3/4 ton had trailing arms and coil springs, the one ton had leaf springs. I called the restoration pack office in Flint Mich. This is what I was told; in 1968 1,100 flat bed 3/4 ton trucks were ordered, but they had no record of any C20 dually's being ordered. The lady said since GM didn't keep track of any production runs that were less than 1%, a C20 with factory dual rear wheels means it is probably 1 of 11 or less.

I would guess that yours had a 292 in it originally.

Counting your's and mine, I only know of three.

Slomotion, The wheels are still the 2 piece split rims.I havent check the glove box door yet,I will tomarrow. Wow 1 of 11 thats crazy..Thanks for the insight on the rarity of these c-20 options..the back window was throwing me off too but the title says 67'

Thanks Big al. I dont plan to change much just enough to make it safe to drive and haul heavy loads...I wouldnt put it past me to hook a bobcat behind it..I believe a truck should be used as a truck..lol Just my 2 cents worth.

Everything I said was appropriate to a '68. I don't know about the '67 year group. Sorry, I thought yours was a '68. I'll see if I can find that 800 number. It may be worth checking out your truck just to know.

Most likely a 67 then (fenders). It would be interesting to call that number and get some info. I bet since it's a 67 that it's even more rare.

"GM Restoration Packet" click on the first line (chevytrucks.org restoration pack). This will give you what you need to find the info on your truck. There's also info there for our Canadian neighbors.

So here are some updated photos and where I am with the build.

She is getting worked as an ole truck was meant to be. The 307 gave up its fight and I have replaced it with a 350 4 bolt main engine from my brother's old 85' C30 dually. I have a YouTube video of it when I first fired it up after installing it. I'll try to post here.
