Re: air bag kit!

good and cheap do not work in the same sentence.. These trucks are easy to bag... Do a search and see what other people have done... Don't be afraid of manual valves if you are looking to save money... I am still running a set on my 64..

Re: air bag kit!

It might help if you were more specific in your needs. Do you want a basic kit or you planning on laying frame?

I suggest you spend some quality time researching in the Suspension Forum. There is a LOT of information to read there.

Re: air bag kit!

What suspension mods do you have now?
Is it stock height?
What year truck?
Disc brakes already?

We need more info.

Bag trucks need all the same stuff that very low static drop trucks need.
1) drop spindles
2) quality drop shocks
3) 67-72 trucks need rear shock relocators, adjustable track bars, and probably a bolt in c-notch

We need more info.

Re: air bag kit!

Use a bolt in c-notch, with a 2" lowering block.
Install a 7" air bag in place of the stock coils.
(Slam Specialties or Dominator bags are good choices)
Trim all the bumpstops off.
Buy a quality air management system and use good quality air line and air bag fittings with a good brand of thread sealant. (loctite)

You can have a dependable trouble free air ride set up.

Suicide Doors upper bag plates and lower cups.
I like Slam Specialties RE-7 bags and a good drop shock.

There are many companies that make them. McGaughy's, PerformanceOnLine (POL), (and CPP,...which I hate to recommend,... but they have the best price).

Re: air bag kit!

7" bag up front is what I would use.
Stay away from Aim/Airbagit.com.
They sell crap.

Yes, that would be close to 9" drop in the rear. The bed floor will need a hole cut for the rear housing to clear or it will hit.

You're still going to be several inches away from the ground even w/the 8~9" drop. If you want bolt-in type drop & lay the rails, contact Nathan @ Porterbuilt Streetrods. He makes a bolt-in kit that allows the truck to lay-out.

Like lolife stated, spindles, plates, bags, & shock relocators work w/the stock a-arm suspension up front. For more drop (that's bolt-in) Porter also makes a front kit that's similar to a 3" frame Z.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

It's more drop than that. Laying the rails means the bottom of the frame rail will drop until it hits the ground..... no getting any lower than that.

Re: air bag kit!

You wont be able to lay the frame out, Because in the front the crossmember will hit the ground before the frame will. In the back the trailing arm crossmember will hit the ground as well.

Do you have a one peice or 2 peice driveshaft? To lay it all the way out with a 1 peice you will have to mod the crossmember.

With a bolt in notch in the back you will hit the frame on the notch before you lay frame on the ground, so you will need a step notch.

Also you will have to cut a hole in the bed for the pumpkin to go up into it.
