WIW...trying to decide tonight to buy tomorrow...

If you guys can help me out I'm looking at a blazer that I honestly want to buy and finish/flip to fund my truck project. All my truck funds have gone into medical bills for my wife and allergy treatments for my daughter so I need more truck money I know the market is tight but I saw this truck on craigslist and went to see it today and think I can make some money off of it. Colorado rust free truck. 71 4x4 blazer that is basically ready for paint and carpet/interior to be done. Has a NEW 2" lift with dual shocks, stabilizer, brand new 33" BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A's on 6 lug rally wheels.
Rebuilt (at a good local shop w/receipts) 350 painted and chromed out with RV cam, 30 over with edelbrock intake and 600cfm carb w/ elec. choke.
Rebuilt TH350 with shift kit, new factory stall torque converter, and SS lines
Transfer case has new seals
Differentials with new seals
New battery good battery tray
New wiring harness
New brake lines/booster
New heater core and blower motor
Complete dual exhaust with coated headers, exhaust pipe, magnaflow mufflers, and nice tips out the back.
Body is excellent for the year with a few patches that will need some work but nothing major.
Rockers were replaced and were done well.
Rocker boxes are original and look almost new. He opened them up and POR15'd the insides.
Frame was blasted and sprayed with POR15.
New passenger Door (truck cut down) fits well
Original driver's door in great shape no rust
Has original passenger door which I would sell in decent shape with dents not rust
Pass fender is original and perfect
Driver's is good aftermarket and fits well
Has three aftermarket fenders (extras) to sell
Has new inner fenders
Has FOUR sets of buckets.
Original utilities-decent shape with backs
Two other bucket sets need redone- one 71 and one 73 model
And one CHERRY set of 71-72 buckets with all hardware, tracks, tilt forward passenger seat, NEW FOAM, NEW covers, and a nice console with a couple small cracks (HOW MUCH ARE THESE WORTH BY THEMSELVES?- only thing missing is the backs)NICE Double wall top freshly painted white with a very nice hatch and hinges and a new chrome latch. NO CRACKS
Firewall and inner fenders/dash painted factory blue color.
Inside floor and undercarriage were undercoated with spray in bedliner
New inner fenders already painted black
Cherry rad support painted black
New aftermarket gate (better quality- thick steel)
Chrome vent windows with good chrome and seals

He replaced the foot vent seals and blasted and POR15'd inside
New Heater controls (chrome nice looking)
New glovebox insert, light
New firewall insulation and cardboard installed
New ductwork for heater and heater box detailed painted black
New white faced gauges, bezel etc he paid 400 for.
White faced tach (sunpro)
Painted around windshield frame, seam sealed, and put new windshield with rubber seal
Like I said, basically needs final body work, a couple metal patches a the bottom of the bedsides(to do a little better job instead of bondo over them) paint the exterior, and then the interior put together and rubber seals.

I'm thinking I would spend around 2-3K getting this finished. How much do you think it is worth now and how much with professional paint job with the rest of the details I gave? I'm hoping it would be worth 10-12K finished to make a few thousand for the time I will put into it. I've been looking at craigslist and ebay and 4X4's are all over the place for value...

Any info appreciated!!!

Here's the top, hatch, and some of the extra parts. Top and hatch has pollen...not as bad as it looks...has nice white paint

These look better in person

Oh, and he has the original grille that is in good shape with no cracks and a good emblem as well. Has new blue armrests on the way and new horn button/steering components were already rebuilt

I was thinking now but even that might be too high, whatever you think you are gonna put into it, double.

Rarely do people make money restoring vehicles.

Re: WIW...trying to decide tonight to buy tomorrow...

It's hard to price a half completed project. The body looks to be solid, although I'd deduct value for the liner in the cab (I'm not a fan because it can hide a lot of issues and is very difficult to remove.) I'd guess around $4,500 -$5,000. I'm sure you're going to find a lot of missing parts while you're putting it together.

Re: WIW...trying to decide tonight to buy tomorrow...

All this needs is paint and me buying carpet and 200 worth of rubber seals....it's done other than that...it's already jammed for the paint as well....it is restored...just not painted. It can be driven down the street as is right now.

Re: WIW...trying to decide tonight to buy tomorrow...

He has the remainder of the interior parts (I looked through them), the rubber parts for the top, and the bumpers/bumper brackets also. So no parts missing.

While I agree bedliner can hide things, this floor is very solid and the rocker boxes look good inside and out. He has pictures of the work too so I know it was done right. I'm pretty sure the 4500 is a great deal especially since I figure I can get 1000-1500 selling the extra buckets and fenders/original door/original gate in decent condition.

I guess I'm wondering a good price it would sell at when finished?

Re: WIW...trying to decide tonight to buy tomorrow...

Looks like a great deal to me, judging from pics and list, hard to really tell without seeing it, I do think your estimated cost for finishing is low, There is always way more than we think at first, i would be surprised if you could get a good complete spray for that price, and it looks like it deserves a good quality spray.. and it's gonna be way more than 200 to re-rubber it also, Better yet, as soon as i have an extra 4500 i'll go check it out for you and let you know what i really think... Deal???

Go for it. Solid trucks are becoming difficult to find.

Re: WIW...trying to decide tonight to buy tomorrow...

Thanks for the opinions guys. Going to sleep on it but probably will make an offer tomorrow.

The reason I'm thinking 2K for the paint is I will do the final bodywork/alignment and blocking and it's already jammed out/windshield done/firewall done (actually engine bay is done other than installing inner fenders) Pretty sure he has the paint already since he sprayed so much of the truck so far.

Price is relative to location and said locations economy, imo. If you want to score the big scrilla for this, when it's done ship or advertise it in western Canada for the sale; this stuff seems to go for about 1.70 on the dollar here.
I'm not bitter.........

thanks man, definetly worth keeping in mind. What would you think a fair price would be for a truck in this nice of shape with new paint and the nice interior (once finished) I'm looking to make money for my time but not get rich

Re: WIW...trying to decide tonight to buy tomorrow...

Do you have some of the to-date resto pics to supply? I'm certainly no appraiser(I'm not really even that smrt), but I'd guess on your side of the border....11G's with a nice roof? Up here in Canaida(the oily part of the country); prolly 16-17G's, maybe more if our economy continues to hold it's ground.
Look on kijijijijiji around Alberta; there's some 67-72's from 25g plus, there's a '67 long box looking for over 30 grand for a restored unit!
Good luck dude, remember; eventualy good things come to good people!

Thanks for the edjumacated guess! And I've definitely been blessed. I've been able to pay the bills because of finding good deals on truck parts. Just had to use all that extra "truck" cash for bills so far....

Yes, that's the way the blazer doors are. THe driver's door came that way from the factory. The passenger was a new truck door cut down. There are rubbers (which he has and they are in good shape) that cap off the cut areas and mate up with the top. The vent windows fit in the triangle portion.

Re: WIW...trying to decide tonight to buy tomorrow...

IMHO - the truck is worth the asking price on CL.

Knowing what it takes time and cost-wise to get to this point - a finished truck should bring double that amount [not sure if you will sell it quick though, which is your goal]. It might go quicker parting it out if you need fast cash. There are some good parts there [I would like the 33s and rallys please - ]

The seats are worth at least 1k of that price.

Anything less than that price on CL - you are getting a good deal. Is he looking to work with you on the price?

Re: WIW...trying to decide tonight to buy tomorrow...

Judging from the pics, I'd say if the paint/body comes out nice, it will at least be worth the $10-12k you are hoping for. Even in today's economy, the nice stuff will sell.

Re: WIW...trying to decide tonight to buy tomorrow...

Just another tid-bit; the COMPLETE rubber set I ordered is about 1100 bucks here, includes hatch hinge gaskets etc. If this one has good seals with it that saves a bit as well.
