transmission cover and bed floor

My 66 Chevy SWB was converted to 4x4 by someone years ago. They bolted a tranny cover in but it stops a few inches short of the firewall. They filled the gap with some old, nasty foam or carpet pad. I am trying to redo it correctly. This cover bolts down to the stock location on the floor but doesn't meet the original holes at the front of the hump on the firewall. Was there a two piece cover? This piece follows the floor contours perfectly so I don't think it was adapted from something else but I'm not sure. The gap continues around the side of the cover down to a pie shape at the bottom on each side. Anyone know where to get the right cover?

How about swapping in a metal bed floor in place of the rotted wooden one. I use this truck for work and don't want to replace the wood and then destroy it again. I saw an orange long bed Chevy in Four Wheeler or 4 Wheel and Off Road magazine a year or two ago and the owner said the bed from a 67 "was nearly a bolt in". Has anyone done this? Mine is a short wide bed instead of the long wide bed from the magazine.
Thanks for the help.

Re: transmission cover and bed floor

you need to find a high hump cab, and cut the front half of the hump out. get a spot weld cutter and drill yours out, then just plug weld the other one in. Somebody just bolted a high hump in your truck and was too lazy to put the other half in......Mark

The transmission hump came in two variations, low and high. You have the high hump for a 4 speed that was installed in a 3 speed or automatic cab. Contact padresag, he has the front piece you need. His actually bolts in so you'll have to cut out a portion of your cowl then bolt the front piece in.
