Re: Anyone seen this kind of set up? 8 speed manual!

An ol guy here at home has a B model Mack with a 4sp and a 2sp brownie box. Shifts just like the one in the video, but he only has one arm. Steers and shifts at the same time. One busy guy behind the wheel.

That's pretty cool. That looks like a non turbo model. That engine is 212ci and all 2 strokes have roots type blowers for air induction. That is a cool truck. My uncle had a brownie 2 speed in a 76 C30 crew cab. It was pretty neat.

Re: Anyone seen this kind of set up? 8 speed manual!

Does the 2 spd. auxilary trans help in MPG, or is it mainly for towing applications?

Re: Anyone seen this kind of set up? 8 speed manual!

from what i think the 2 spd is two split the gears 2 ways
4 HI 4 LO.shifting both is not necessary leave it high for normal driving and put it in low for heavy loads.

the diesel is cool but i think it would even be way cooler with a 6V92 DD.

Re: Anyone seen this kind of set up? 8 speed manual!

Some of the brownie boxes are over drives and some aren't. So it just depends which one he has in it. I agree a 6V92 would be way more cool.

Re: Anyone seen this kind of set up? 8 speed manual!

I can't see the video.. but it reminds me of a members truck. (ARAMP1)

here is his build thread on another board (http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/showth...ig-Buld-Thread)

He is putting in a Turbo & Supercharged 4-71 with a Roadranger 10 speed and perhaps even a Brownie or Spicer 5831 Aux transmission.

The mention of an 8 Speed manual reminds me of something I once saw where they put dual manual transmission in square bodies. I don't remember, but someone posted some old material on it one time.
