55/6 automatic shifter

Here is a 55/6 GMC automatic shifter. Price is $50.00. The column will be included if you want it, but think it is not worth the shipping cost. I will remove the shiffter for shipping or you are welcome to pick it up in Nor. Cal.

Re: 55/6 automatic shifter

I don't know anything about how these are put together. Is the column it self the same as a manual? I have a 56 GMC that I have been gathering parts for a couple of years and am putting an auto in. This would be cool and keep the outside looking orginal.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: 55/6 automatic shifter

The column is the same as a manual, except you may have to drill a hole for a centering pin. Some manual GMC columns already have this hole. If you use this shifter with a late model tranny it may not go all the way to low gear. I have used these shifters and Chevy auto shifters with late model trannys and it is cool to have the original look.

I do not want to ship the column. It was left outside standing up and I think it was rained on. Not sure if water got in it.

Re: 55/6 automatic shifter

Primarly interested in the shift rod and indicator, not the entire column.
May be able to use them in an early Chevy van I plan to convert to an auto.
Side pics of the column would help.

If willing to ship those parts please LMK.

Thanks.
Scott

I would like all the hydramatic shifter stuff to put on my existing column and the turn signal housing and guts as well. Shipping would be to 59477 in MT. Thanks much
