I pulled the sway bar off my 97 burban, I held it up to my 68 just too see if it was possible. It looked like it might be possible with a little fabbing maybe. Anyway I was just wondering if anybody else had done it and how they mounted it. Thanks!

don't know about that, but the 73- 87 sway bars fit with no mods i just did one myself off a 80something 3/4 ton just a thought

listen to Hubscrub, you must.....

the 73-87 2wd bar is an inexpensive, bolt in job for the 67-72 2wd's. the standard 1-1/8" diameter bar is identical to the bar that was optional on our trucks. you can find a 3/4 ton camper special or a 1 ton truck donor and it will give you the 1-1/4" bar that will be a totally stealth installation. don't forget the brackets that hold up the front of the bar. i'd only bother adapting a newer factory bar if it was from a late model.....1-1/2" front / 1-1/4" rear.

I agree.Got mine for about $18.00 at Pull-a-Part.They have an online inventory and pricing guide for each area.

Ya I got one off an 87 3\4 ton with all the brackets for $35.00

Those of you who've done this upgrade, was it a noticible improvement? Is it worth the hours of hunting buying and installing the parts?

i can tell a difference in mine you don't have that leaning feeling anymore lol, i would honestly say that my truck with the stock rebuilt front end and swaybar drives as well as my 97 does and but probaly rides better than the 97

You betcha it is! Night and day difference. Worst case, 2 hour install if you have to cut the rivet with a hammer and chisel. Less time if you have power tools to remove the rivet.

Thanks yall, I knew the 73-87 were pretty much a bolt in, but I figured since I had the one off my '97 I might as well try it. Anyway I didn't know the 73-87 were so cheap though, never really looked into it, but that's def an upgrade that's happening soon.

I pulled a rear sway bar from an early 90's Suburban and plan to install it soon. It seems the options for the rear are all a bit more pricey than the $12.99 I paid for this one with all of the brackets and bolts. This is one of the few trucks that nearly every one I look under seems to have a rear sway bar.

was it newer than 91? the burban body style didn't change from the square body until 92, if it was newer that would be pretty cool since I already have one, how did it improve handling?

It was the newer body style. I believe it was a '94. I have not installed the bar yet so we will see what the improvement will be.
