got some new jack stands

I know nothing really exciting but I've been shopping for some for a few weeks since the last time I used my old ones to get under a car ,the old ones were 3 ton and I had to raise them all the way up to get my gut under the car (lol), this made me uneasy about getting under it, the older I get the less I like getting under one , plus I saw a thread with some twisted up el cheapo stands. anyway the new ones I bought at northern tool are 6 ton and I believe the max lift was about 23 inches . the best thing I liked about them is that they are double locking ,they use a pin as a safety which locks in above the usual lock.(see pics)

Re: got some new jack stands

Since safety is a concern, look at the 2nd pic. There is a little tab that needs to be bent inward. That tab keeps the lift bar from falling out on your foot while you are carrying them.

yeah I seen that but decided not to bend it in since I always carry them by that handle which keeps them upright.

Re: got some new jack stands

My 3 ton jack stands are still un-staked, but I staked my 12 ton jack first thing out of the box. That chunk of iron would break what ever it hit!
