As far as what options the truck had? It would be on the inside of the glove box door.

Re: 82 Chevrolet c10 build sheet!

There supposely is one more that tells what the original color was, what options, date manufactured and what location. Read a few forums and they said it will be around the bed underneath.

I think they're usually under the seat in the springs or under the carpet. somewhere like that.

This is the one for my 78.

Re: 82 Chevrolet c10 build sheet!

it's just a plain ol piece of paper. doesn't stick to anything and it just got stuck somewhere in the truck going down the assembly line somewhere.

The one in the glovebox is the RPO sticker.

Re: 82 Chevrolet c10 build sheet!

if they arent in the glove box ive seen some trucks with them on the drivers side inner fender under the hood, same plastic and everything as the glovebox location, but this was mainly on 73-74s for some reason. I cant remember if ive seen them on anything later than that on the inner fender.

Re: 82 Chevrolet c10 build sheet!

There is a difference between the SPID label and the build sheet (both of which have been attached in this thread).

The SPID label is the plastic covered sticker, located on the front fender inner wheelhouse or in the glovebox. It is an official document and was required to be placed on the vehicle before it left the assembly plant (for service use).

The build sheet is what 78 Chevyrado posted; it is a document for use in the assembly plant to help the line operators determine what parts to put on the truck. There was no requirement for those to be placed in the vehicle, and there is no usage for that document once the truck leaves the plant (other than for us hobbyist/enthusiasts). However sometimes it was easier for the operator to just leave it laying in place rather than throwing it away. Usual places can be in the seat cushion or base, behind the door trim panels, under the IP top pad, stuffed in the A pillar or under the carpet - or - none of the above. They will often be ripped, torn, stained or have a bolt driven through them. If you find one of these you are very, very lucky.

Thanks for posting that , 78 Chevyrado, it's a beautiful thang -

Keith, dont mean to challenge you, but we own quite a few 73-80s, and most of mine are in the glovebox, excluding my dads 73 and a few others. By alot, i mean 20-25. Are you sure the changeover date wasnt earlier?

Re: 82 Chevrolet c10 build sheet!

I'm not sure where mine came from, Granddad doesn't remember where he got it.... it was in a file he made for the truck that he gave me when i got the truck from him.

He keeps all that stuff... A month ago or so, we found his original bill of sale for a 1949 Ford Car He bought new, only option was a heater.

No prob -

Yep - not sure on that one, and had already edited my original post (because I couldn't remember - and because I didn't want it to detract from my info).

Changeover could have been prior (and was likely) prior to 80/81.

Re: 82 Chevrolet c10 build sheet!

My old blue 84 had it on the inner fender. Years ago my dad had an 84 that had it in the glovebox. Had a 79 that had it in the glovebox IIRC. My 89 has in the glovebox too. I've seen the same years of truck have them in both spots.....

Yep - that would be the SPID label (not the build sheet).

Re: 82 Chevrolet c10 build sheet!

I think the location of the SPID varied between plants;I have seen them on the fenderwell and in the glovebox up to 76-78...after that they all seemed to be in the glovebox.
The build sheets seem to be under the seat in a lot of the USA built trucks I have seen...very few in the Canadian trucks.
