wiring annoyances

so on my 78 4x4, have a choke light that flashes, only started after i replaced the carb with an edelbrock 1406. checked all of the grounds in the surrounding area and all seemed just fine. question with that is what hotwire could be shorting to cause this light to flash/turn on? not sure at all what this light is supposed to actually indicate. and second off, where is the "brights indicator" supposed to be? as long as i've had the truck i have not had the indicator. not sure if thats just a bulb burnt out or something deeper.

Re: wiring annoyances

Did the carb you replaced (quadrajet?) have electric choke? If so maybe the hot wire for it is making contact.
Are you not using electric choke on Eddy carb?

Re: wiring annoyances

yea, the eddy replaced the quadratoilet. i am using the electric choke. i chased that wire back and there is no burnt or chaffed wire on it. i even replaced the wire just to make sure. still flashes. very spirattically, no rhythm to it at all.

Re: wiring annoyances

maybe the pins on the connector for the guages are coming loose. i think that is the problem on one of my trucks. my guages start all acting up and high beam indicator and both turn signal indicators stay lit up. sometimes i can grab the harness under the dash at the guages and jiggle it until it starts acting right, but just not lately. one thing to check tho.
