Pulling a cab off
I am mid way thru tear down and want to pull my cab off. What is the best way to do it? Also I have seen some pics of cab stands that will tilt to allow access to the under body. Anyone have some "how to" instructions for making one? Dimensions and what not? I have attached a few pics of my truck, and will eventually start a build thread.

Engine crane worked for me. I made a stand that rolled back onto some tires, worked great. Still have it somewhere. I used a 2 ton jack to lift the front of the stand then slid it around the shop when needed.

I pulled my cab over the bare front end with 4 people. No engine or anything in front of it. I set it on a pallet that I put 4 casters on so I can roll it around anywhere I want. Unfortunately, that's all that's happened, rolling it around the garage.

VERY easy to make, think of a sleigh. I'll look for mine tomorrow and send pics. I used 1 X 1 1/8 wall, less then a buck a foot.
made the supports out of some old 1/4 flat stock i found at a metal supermarket. make a big hole for adjustment and weld another piece of flat onto a nut. |
