Need Help with Burb Value

I haven't bought this yet and am not trying to get a price for resale. As some of you know I've been hunting for Burb for a while now and the other day Chevy2racr posted a thread with a link to this one on Clist. I really like it and feel the seller is asking as we say "All the Money" for the Burb so I'm asking you guys/gals what you feel is a fair price. I have lots of pics but will post 10 which means I'll need two posts. I'll post the first five then the other five right after.

Re: Need Help with Burb Value

You want a two wheel drive or 4wd? Prices vary but there are a few 4x4's just below you in the states that I've seen. I'll try and find the links but here's a 2wd here in BC for comparison's sake.

Thanks for the tip. On the surface that Craiglist Burb looks like a better deal and my preference is for a 4x2. I'm gonna check that yellow one out.

Re: Need Help with Burb Value

Nice looking unmolested Burb with everything there yet. It gets expensive trying to find seats, brackets, headliner, etc. etc. That being said, it does have some rust issues. If you can do your own body/paint work, then it won't be so daunting. If you have to pay for it, it will be expensive. No pics of the undercarriage - you need to look it over carefully. take some cardboard and a flashlight and crawl around. Is the roof dented on front passenger side? Cowl solid underhood? How are floors where they meet kick panels near front of door opening? If the roof area, cowl, and undercarriage are solid, and it ran down the road well, I wouldn't sell it for less than $3000 - $3500. If it has rot underneath too, I'd pass.

Re: Need Help with Burb Value

If you do buy it, I would really like detailed photo's of those seat covers.

Since they are the correct 67/68 seat covers, not what LMC and others claim to be 67/68 OEM covers.

Wondering why you liked this one so much? I just passed on one in Hermiston, Or. that could have been bought for probably 3 grand. It was in better shape than this one appears to be.

Did I screw up?

As an owner of a 1968 K20, I can tell you first hand that 1968 K20 Suburbans are pretty darn scarce. This one looks to be in mostly un molested condition, and from what I can tell looks complete and solid.

Though it is a barn door style, which I think were "More common". Either clam shell or barn door, they are scarce and nothing really to quibble about.

If it has a 327, that would make it even better. The 327 was an upgrade option for that year and model, being that it is a K20 and I see optional tow hooks on it. Chances are it is a 327 optioned burb.

How scarce? From what I have researched, there were approximately under 500 K20 Suburbans produced in 1968.

Good info.........but I did not know there was that much difference between years for production numbers. The one I was referring to was a 71, so probably some difference there.....sorry.

Please do! The covers pictured by the OP are the Custom comfort option vinyl/cloth, and I need detailed pictures to research and show to a skilled upholster to reproduce for me. I have my new correct grain/color vinyl and cloth for the inserts, and I am just holding out for the right examples to copy from. Though I would love to get my hands on an original cover, that way I can just hand it to the upholster to duplicate.

Re: Need Help with Burb Value

It's decent from what the pictures reveal. If you can tackle the rust issues and come to a fair price, seems fine. Does it run well...do you plan on driving it (using it while you fix it)? Those are things I would consider. Also what level of restoration are you going for? It's good to count the cost before undertaking a project. Good Luck! Roger

Re: Need Help with Burb Value

I thought I'd update everyone on this Burb. I made the owner/seller an offer but it was declined. I really like it so I may counter offer and see what happens.

Re: Need Help with Burb Value

you should check out that yellow one, its still for sale and is in great condition from the photos. If I recall this guy wanted 6500 for the 68 here, but that yellow is 5000 and is in canada, in a couple weeks you could drive it home. Not to mention you could talk him down a lil I bet, everyone bumps prices in expectation of bartering.
