Question fender trimming?

I plan on getting 38" tires for my '74. I currently have a 6" Superlift on it and it looks like the tires will fit without trimming. Anyone have this combination?

Sorry i dont but to trim the fenders a plasma cutter would make a easier cleaner job out of it,Or use a torch-crude but effective then hide with some flairs,a sawxall,a hacksaw would take you a while.Sorry im not much help.

if it is a truck u drive every day and want it nice do use a plasma cutter but if its a play toy like mine all u need is a big hammer and slam that fender only if its a junk toy not a daily driver

i have a 86 with a 6" lift. 36 inch tires will barely clear if you have 10 inch wide rims, anything wider and you might be rubbing body parts. if you run 38" tires , your gonna have to do some cutting. if your like me i HATE body lifts. send me a pic of your truck!

yeah body lifts are no good. I am hoping to run 38x12.5x16.5 tires and drive as a daily driver. Sorry I don't have any pictures of it since I had my roll over. It was in good shape too. I had put a new front clip on, rockers, and just bought a Texas box three days before, lucky I didn't have time to put it on. Now I am rust proofing the frame and looking for a decent body to make into my truck again. I bought all the trim and plan on painting it metallic dark blue and white two-tone. I did however send a pic into 4-wheel and off-raod for their oops section. Haven't checked for it yet though. Thanks

I have a '76 3/4T with a 6" Rancho lift that I ran 38" x 12 or 12.5"wide Ground Hawgs, I still had to use the sawzall on the front part of the fender and a little at the rear(front fenders). It still rubbed on the bigger bumps at speed, or while turning at a slow to moderate speed. But it did'nt rub that often or too bad. What's a little rubbin' anyway..hehe.
Pete

P.S. - It's running a nice 427. A small block in a 1/2T might not need it

I went with a National spring 6 inch lift to keep the center of gravity low. I also cut the fenders, installed Brushwackers cut out flares. I removed both stock front and back wheel wells and replaced them with 40 inch steel wheel wells tubes. This enables me to run a 38 or 40 inch tire on 16.5 x 9.75 trail ready bead locks and still have max flex with no tire rub. Oh, the rear end portion is made up of "Off Road Design" shackle flip and National Spring 56 inch leaf. I guess it really comes down to how much work you want to put yourself through.. Hope this helps.. Rock on people!!

Well this thing isn't a wimpy 1/2 ton Only the Blazer is a half all the others are 3/4 and hoping to include some bigger stuff soon. The only thing is that I didn't want to chop it up too bad and cut my trim as well. WE'll see. Thanks
