Need some opinions please....

I just got my new oil pump and pickup for my 1989 454 tbi. It has the 9" deep oil pan as an fyi. I got the Melling 77HV pump and the recommended 241s pickup. My problem is, the stock pickup screen is about .5" off the bottom of the pan. The new screen is 1.5" shorter! If I try and get it to the same height off the bottom of the pan the screen is no longer parrallel with the bottom of the pan. Has anyone else had this or seen this? If so, anyone got any suggestions?

Re: Need some opinions please....

Update: Since I had nothing productive to do at work, I left and went on the hunt for a new pickup. Turns out the pickup is the right one. It took some measuring, but it should work and still have the 1/2" clearance when it goes together. I will double check before I install the pickup, that will give me enough time to second guess myself by Friday afternoon.
