I've been replacing my factory rad's with all aluminum welded rad's. I have been liking them so far. I get them from a fella on ebay who sells Champion radiators. I have a 2 row on my stock 350 in the '71, and a 3 row on the mild 350 in my '85 burb. Both cool very well. The prices are very acceptable, and the fella ships the same day.

Re: looks like i need a radiator.

Use a stock replacement. A larger one will hurt your heater during the winter.

Re: looks like i need a radiator.

i ran into a problem with the stock replacements from the local auto parts places.. apparently they are no longer making or using the brass tanks replacements.. i had to get mounting brackets out of a newer truck to make the "stock replacement" fir in my 82 .

I ran into a similar situation with local "replacements" on my 68 elCamino. They only sell the plastic tanked models now, so I bought one online.

Re: looks like i need a radiator.

Do an online search and you will find suppliers for radiators that will sell you a radiator and you can pick it up from a local dealer for a low price. Or, they will ship it to you for the same price (saving sales tax, if it applies in your area). I got a 3 core Ready Rad brand two years ago this way - all copper and brass, no plastic or aluminum- for my 83 454. I think the radiator cost about $150 and I got $37 from the local scrap metal yard for the old radiator after I took off the steel parts. So far, no problems with the radiator and I live in the Arizona desert which is as bad as you can get for radiator life, especially with a big block and A/C.

Re: looks like i need a radiator.

I picked up a very nice 4 core newer (81-87) style rad to put in my 76 from the local pull & save... it was about 35.00. It was larger than the old one, but it now looks like it was meant to be there, and cools the heck out of my engine...

Re: looks like i need a radiator.

Advanced Auto can get the brass tank Ready Rads. I just got one.

If you use their website and sign in, you can usually get 15-20% discount (try code P20). You can also see what stores have it in stock and buy it online then go pick it up. That's what I did.
