Patches

I deleted my last build post because I thought the title was stupid.

My Mimi called the truck I am building patches because of the bondo and multicoplored panels. So I will name the thread patches

Here is my build that I started in 2003. It was a truck given to me by my father. He passed on October 20, 2003 shortly after giving it to me.

TX_Firefighter and ShanesChevy have served as my go to people for advice on this build and would not have been able to get this far without them.

Here is what started the frame off rebuild. I pulled the bed and found that the frame was almost rusted in two. So I started by finding a new frame.

Re: Patches

I got a 1972 frame from Mr. Shelly that he was kind enough to haul all the way from Kilgore for me.

I cleaned it real well and removed all the rust with a wire wheel on a grinder. I also sanded the places that it missed

Re: Patches

Painted the frame with Loss Gloss Black from Tractor Supply. All new Moog front end rebuild. Swapped on a sway bar from a 3/4 ton 73-87 Chevy truck. Dropped 5 ½” using dearched rear springs and hangers in the back. Drop spindles and springs in the front for 4 ½ inch drop.

Re: Patches

I wanted to remove the old cab off the old frame. I rigged this simple lift from a couple of ideas found here on the board

Re: Patches

Finally have it installed. I had to put it on ramps because it was too low to get hoist under the front end.

Re: Patches

I am going to try to be vigilant in making progress on the truck. Here is what I did last night. Wirewheeled, Primed and Painted. Will work on striping core support tomorrow.
