Converting from hand brake to foot brake Question

Reading Wes (Classic Heartbeat) account of the '67 Panel he redid, I found that to get rid of the handle and go with the '69-72 style of brake pedal is a pretty good project.

It looks to me like a patch panel would be a good item to have available, but I don't know if anyone makes such an item.

Since I am replacing my '69 cab, with a '68 cab, you can see my problem.

On the other hand, I understand that Lokar makes a brake pedal ass'y. I assume it doesn't require the metal work that Wes had to do, in order to make it work.

Any comments?

Re: Converting from hand brake to foot brake Question

You could go through alot of trouble or just bolt it in like the PO of my truck did.

The PO of my truck just drilled holes in the firewall and installed it. here's da pics.

I think the '69 fuseblock had to be rotated, but that was it.

Re: Converting from hand brake to foot brake Question

Dano, that's what I was wanting to see. I see from Wes' pix and his story, how he patched in the later piece to his earlier firewall. But, seeing your pix, I can see the end without having to go nutz. Thanks, guys.

BTW Wes....do you sell Inland Tube stuff?

Parking brake? What's a parking brake? Mine is 1st gear and compression!

The foot brake is the way to go though.

My long-term (27-yr) employer was an MSHA-sanctioned facility. Even though it was our private vehicle, we were subject to being fined by MSHA if we didn't set the e-brake in the employee parking lot. My brake didn't work, but I kept the pedal pushed into the "set" position, in case the gestapo came and looked on a day when they couldn't find enough stuff in the plant to gig.

Now, I'm anal about setting it, even in the driveway....a level driveway.

I have a large brick I place behind (or in front of) the tire.

Wow....that's some serious safety regs. Can't fault anyone for that! Really mine doesn't have one because I'm too lazy!

Re: Converting from hand brake to foot brake Question

I had the parking brake/fire wall from a cab I cut up. Just in case someone wanted to do this. However, I tossed it when I moved
