there was a bracket on my SB that bolted to the block above the oil filter. on my BB there is one hole for a clutch ball above the oil filter? does it use the same Z-bar location? need HELP thanks so much folks!!

Re: where does the clutch ball mount on my 454?

I got the one for my 454 from Auto Tire and Parts (Napa). It was a ball with a threaded end.

The way we mounted the engine we did have to move the mount on the frame to get a good angle.

Re: where does the clutch ball mount on my 454?

The zbar from the SBC should work, one did on my BBC. The angle may be a bit funky as mentioned above. You may need a bracket or you may be able to use the threaded hole in the block. Its kinda one those deals you wont know till you get the engine and trans stabbed in there. Another Idea I kinda kick myself for not doing is a conversion to a hydraulic throw out bearing. Smoother clutch feel and elimantes the angles and parts. While I'm not a fan of LMC parts, their catalog has a great view of all the parts needed for the z bar set up

Re: where does the clutch ball mount on my 454?

I bought the clutch ball that screws into the block of a 454 at Auto Tire and Parts/Napa for around $12. The item number is 615-1197.

Just thought this might help some one some day.
