72 Frame tails measurements

Can anyone send me the measurements from the tip of rear frame tails to the cross support at the gas tank? Trying to put the original bumper back on.
I also need the location of the body mounting bushing distance from rear tip. I have replacement tails but don't know the length. Thanks for your help. Pat

Re: 72 Frame tails measurements

Thanks Willie. Do you have a measurment from the overall point of 199.24 back to the mounting holes that measure 33.95 wide or either from 199.24 to the tip. Mine is a 4 wheel drive model . i assume that is the top frame on you schematic. Pat.

Re: 72 Frame tails measurements

Can someone send a picture of the rear frame tails 72 4 wheel drive model.

The replacement tails I have, have different angles at the tip. I don't know if they are bent on not.

Re: 72 Frame tails measurements

So GM made two frame styles for blazers? What is the difference besides the length? I have one of both styles and I want to put a beauty bumper on and not a step bumper. Can anybody help me?

Re: 72 Frame tails measurements

SleepyK5- 69-71 Blazer frames need an inner bumper bracket bolted to the frame to use a sport bumper. In '72, they changed the frame horns so that the bracket was not needed; the bumper just bolts right to the frame.

Re: 72 Frame tails measurements

It looks like they r cut off on my 70 just behind the rear body mount. Is that how they were in 70 then they changed them in 72. Just trying to make sure I understood u correctly.

Re: 72 Frame tails measurements

Yes, that's exactly what they look like. Just like they got sawed off behind that mount. This is what my '71 looked like. You see the clean spots on the sides of the frame rails right under the last mount where the bumper brackets were.

Re: 72 Frame tails measurements

Bringing up a thread to see if I can get a measurement... Can someone take a square and measure the height of the frame right in front of the body mount? I made a red line on the picture where I'm talking about. I was looking to have it accurate to within a 1/16" of an inch. I have a 72 frame and I want to compare the older style to what I have.
Thanks
