I have a 77' Chevy c-10 350,auto,turbo 350 tranny, with what I think is 3/4 ton rear springs. I know someone who says they hauled 2700 pounds of rock 90 miles to their house on a half ton old F%^d truck. I have this little bet going with them. I need to know how much weight I can put on my truck that wont cause permanent damage, providing I take it easy. Anyone ever maxed out a truck like mine ?

Thanks In Advance
Ray

Your GVRW is listed on the plate on the door jamb. take thre GVRW minus the actual weight of the turck, thats the max weight that the Feds/manufacturer say you can haul around in it.....this is considered fully loaded.

the leaf trucks cant haul as much as the old coil rear trucks(comapring 1/2 ton to 1/2 ton) I hauled exactly 4,440 lbs in the back of my '68 coil spring C-10 once(steel scrap, parts), and I hauled it over 45 miles, I still the have scale receipts to prove it.
No leaf 1/2 ton could do that without breaking leaves. Trailing arm and coil spring suspension is tough.
I hauled more in the back of the truck than the truck even weighed(3800lbs)
The GVRW was 5500lbs
