Re: my 57 ..project

nice project, I think its mandated in the agreement when you signed up here that u must state your intended direction..... run as is, blow it apart, slam it, lift it... motor, trans...etc
please advise

especially like spare tire set up.....

especially like spare tire set up.....
has a newer small block in it that does'nt smoke and runs great(was told it was recently rebuilt)all new gaskets and the way it runs no reason to doubt it
350 trans(needs rebuilt)
has a camaro subframe..after looking at it i am going to pull the cab and box it in..(just make me feel better if i do)
has 4 wheel power disc brake..
dont know what i want to do with the rear suspension..would like to run a 4 link with bags..have'nt decided
bed floor is just a piece of plywood...going to figure what to do with that after i decide on suspension

as far as the spare tire set-up...i really dont know if i like it or not...depends how i go with the build...if i decide to bag it ..will the tire hit the indention in the spare fender?..

right now i am running alot of ideas through my head...
honestly though i want to build a summer every day driver out of it(not really a car show person)..be happy if i can just get the body off and rebuild the suspension and get the whole chassis done and painted and body mounted again by next summer and do the body next winter...just trying to be realistic about my timeframe and money

Re: my 57 ..project

one more thing...i am thinking about using some straps and hoisting and hanging the bed up to these wood joist(space saver)...not really sure how heavy it is but i have limited space in the garage and was curious if it would be a bad idea...
once i sell off my old mustang parts i'll have plenty space to work..but until then i am stuck with this or storing it outdoors in the elements

Whatever direction you decide it looks like a nice project to start with. Good luck to you and keep posting pictures.

Re: my 57 ..project

looks like a nice start! Look on the steering box there should be a # stamped on it..
Google is your best friend when it comes to ID #'S.. same with that tag on the reared.
Good luck keep posting pics. P.S. we broke a roof joist doing the same thing in our shop! use caution! lol!

the tag on the rear end says limited slip differential fluid only..
and i gave up on the idea of using roof joists for anything.. gonna get a shed and empty the garage of non garage items..mower tiller etc etc..
then i'll have the space to utilize the cherry picker to remove the bed and cab..

only thing that really matters to me is if it is solid when it's done and how much materials and wood i'll be able to haul..just wanted a cool work truck

That does look great!
Did you by chance hold your fender up to the front side of the doors to see how it lines up.
My lower patch panel was bowed way out, yours looks good! what patch panel do you go with?

Nice start! If you don't mind, what are the dimensions of the fuel cell? It looks like it fits real well.
