Ochre GMC Truck

I have never seen an ochre gmc truck in the same ochre and white chevy theme, I'm wanting to know if anyone has seen something like this.

Ochre is a great color, but I am not sure if it will look ok on a GMC

Hey Glen, that door is resting comfortably in 'Rose'. I was able to peel off the SPID, I'll send it to you if you want it. You could glue it on another door pretty easily. Your already going to have pieces from that truck on yours anyway

Re: Ochre GMC Truck

You know it's funny,I have a saddle interior for my '72 GMC and want to paint it some color in the gold-brown spectrum. There's nice polys but I thought about toning it down with a common color in a solid, like Ochre. I think it would look really good and my end up doing that yet. I never say or decide till it's time to buy paint, though. I realized that would be very uncommon because I coudn't recall seeing an Ochre GMC. I like the idea of doing something that looks like GM did but they didn't. That's my kind of custom. Anyway,I went and looked up the paint charts and saw that in 71/72 Ochre was a Chevy-only color. So,I'm surprised to see these GMCs with Ochre paint. Yet another exception to the rule. Check out a PPG paint chart and see for yourself.

Re: Ochre GMC Truck

My guess is that unless we worked in the factory at that time, who knows what they did, Paint charts and actual records are two different things, I don't believe they cared to much about the gmcs over chevys, thats why the gmcs' don't have much paper trails with them.

Re: Ochre GMC Truck

Paint charts are accurate. I have yet to see one wrong. They are the one resource that has run continually since day one. Isn't it what we all go by?

Re: Ochre GMC Truck

I may have placed my words wrong, I know a man like you Specialk, knows these trucks inside & out, Just saying that gmcs really were not recorded as much as the chevys were. I was not disagreeing with paint charts, just saying that unless we worked in the factory they could easily been painted ochre also. If i had the photos from 92' of my ochre jimmy, then it could be proved.

Maybe my words didn't come out right or you just need to read them again. I don't need proof. I know there were exceptions. But,Ochre was a Chevy Truck color in 71/72. I'm saying they kept all records the same...Chevy Truck,GMC,Chevy cars,Pontiac,Olds,Buick,Cadillac...it's all GM. There was never any less regard for GMCs than Chevy Trucks I can assure you.
