in cab Fuel Tank opening c40-70 ?

Just curious, My C60 has has dual 65 gallon saddle tanks, does not apear to have ever had an in cab tank but it Does have a Hole for the filler..... Cab change ? ( still has all the original door jamb plates and such so I dont think so)..... were the cab chassis shipped out with an in cab tank and that was left to the bed installer/ end user to change/deal with ?

Do most/all medium duties have filler holes, none some ? is mine the only one?

Any one have any insight ?

Thanks
Dan

Of the 7 C-40 to C60's I have parted out. All had the in cab tank.
I would think since alot of these were sold as "cab n chassis" GM would of had to install an in cab tank from the factory.

All of the ones I have looked at had in cab tanks as well and that number would be in the 20-30 range

There use to be a pair of 71s in town years ago that had a delete plug where the cap would be and they had saddle tanks. They even had the panoramic rear windows..both were tandem axle fifth wheels. Dont know if the interior tank was deleted from the factory or after delivery.

Being real "universal" as Chevy/GMC was, all the Medium Cabs had a place for an inside tank. If it had saddle tanks, it would just have a "Gas Tank Delete Plate" on it.

Whats a Delete plate look like ? Bolted screwed clipped or welded in ? Looks kinda tacky with an old shop rag stuffed in the hole, Going to have to do something ;-)

Someone may be able to produce some pictures, but the best I can remember, it was a Metal Plate that probably had a threaded machine screw attached to it with a metal holding plate on the underside.

Thanks for the info, still not sure what I am going to do about the Filler hole though... I dont really want to weld it shut, Maybe I can use it for the hydraulic Filler for the central hydraulics ? Just got to be sure no one fills it with gas .... I cant help but to imagine that would be bad.

If you do use it for something else as you have mentioned, I would put a locking cap on it and probably label it as well.
