Ratchets?

I'm trying to find a set of fine-tooth ratchets to supplement my clunky craftsman's. I want something that will hold up, has a lifetime warranty should I need it and doesn't cost a fortune.

Some options I've seen. Prices are for a set of 3

Allied 18995 VPro. $45
http://www.alliedtools.com/products/18995

Gearwrench 81206 $75
http://www.gearwrench.com/catalog/ra...jsp?part=81206

KD tools KDT81206 $80, Same as the gearwrench?
http://www.sears.com/kd-tools-kdt812...13S3876131901P

Crescent $40 for all 3
http://www.cooperhandtools.com/brand...&att2=Ratchets

Klein Not sure they are fine tooth though.. $55
http://www.toolup.com/klein_65720_38...FWZjTAodsUMhAQ

Please feel free to recommend any other brand, Thanks!

EDIT: links fixed

Re: Ratchets?

I really like the Snap-on 80 tooth 3/8" drive ratchets, Had mine for a couple years....Cant seem to break it. Never thought of the 36 tooth ratchets being so bad before I got the 80.

Thanks, I was looking at some Snap-on ones on ebay today, looks like about $200 could buy all 3. I'd have to spread out the purchases, but could do it.

Im going today to buy the 1/2 " and 3/8" Pittsburgs to try out . I have snap ons in my box for everyday use , but though these would be worth a try for my race track box .

Re: Ratchets?

Thanks everyone, looks like I'll be watching Ebay for Snap-On ratchets. I'm changing careers in about six months and will be doing more wrenching, so its probably for the best.

I don't know if I would recommend the composite ratchets. I have the 3/8 and 1/4. They feel nice and and the action seems tough enough, but the socket release is a joke. The button is plastic and falls off, gets lost and makes it a pain to get the socket off. Then my latest 3/8, the the socket release mechanisim inside just locked up. Cleaning and lube didn't help, good thing HF is only down the street from me.

Here's a pic of what provoked this thread. This is my "warranty" stack. The composite ones have the release problems and the Craftsman just developed so much slop and will reverse direction with very little torque applied.

Re: Ratchets?

I like my old F720. You can get the rebuild kit to get her up to 30 teeth.

Re: Ratchets?

I have that one in the longer handle and that same rachet in black oxide finish . I like them both . I was just going to try the HF stuff for the heck of it . At $20 it can always hit the track / junk yard box . I bought the 1/2" in composite and the Snap-on copy . We will see.

And now I realize I just made a Rookie mistake. I punched "F720" into the Snap-on site and got this: http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....store&tool=all 80 tooth right?

But your post made me look a bit deeper and I found this: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/s...d.php?p=345256

So it will be 20 or 30 tooth not 80 tooth like I hoped, but it should be indestructible, which all my other ratchets have proved not to be. Maybe in a month or two I'll buy the F80 I want Thanks again everyone
