stripped wiper arms

is there a solution for the crappy wiper arms the s10s have my brother has had them strip atleast 2 times.i havent seen it when he has the arms off so i dont even know how its made but he said its real soft metal or maybe even plastic and you just draw on to the wiper studs to make splines and its to soft to last. is there a way to put earlier arms on it or any other fixes to make them stronger?

Re: stripped wiper arms

Not me. I rarely take off the wipers. I've seen people ruin them by forcibly installing arms. Use a little WD40 and toothbrush to clean the splines. Pull the arm back all the way before pushing down on it.

Re: stripped wiper arms

they have problems when the windshield gets iced and people turn wipers on without loosening the wipers first. just about all GMs do this.

remove arm, clean splines on shaft with small pick tool and reinstall with about 15 ft.lbs. torque. if they have stripped more than once you may need new arms
