Best rust/frozen bolt fixer concoction

In the next two weeks I plan on installing my lowering kit on my 68. What has proven to be the best concoction to soak those rusty bolts to help them break free?

Re: Best rust/frozen bolt fixer concoction

I've just always used PB blaster since I found it. Spray on top and under a day or so ahead of time then again just before trying. If they're hard to get off after that I try heat if I have it...if not, I use an impact gun and wring them off (break the bolt) or use a breaker bar with a cheater if no air...

PB Blaster is good but i've had better luck with a product made by Seafoam called Deep Creep, it works quite well.

all of the above will work, especially if you start soaking them now.

Re: Best rust/frozen bolt fixer concoction

I just picked up a can of stuff from the makers of WD40 that is specifically for breaking loose bolts. I went to their website because I remember the name of it, but it must be new enough they haven't updated their site. Anyway I bought it because WD40 has a good reputation, but also because they have this nifty spray can:

I hate trying to stick the straw back under the tape.

I'll let you know how it works in a couple of days.

No mixture will do what this can...

If PB can't handle it this will.

Re: Best rust/frozen bolt fixer concoction

PB Blaster,Kroil,or the Deep Creep gets my vote.I used a 24 in breaker bar and a regular one for a back up.I had to work the socket in and then the breaker bar and put it together inside the spring.Once I got it started moving I switched to a quality long handled ratchet so I didn't have to reposition every 1/8 th turn.My luck went 50/50 I broke 2 and managed to get 2 loose. This is on the rear.I sprayed P B on them for about 3-4 days before I started.I went to the "Automotive Fasteners" here and bought all new grade 8 bolts to go back together with.

idk if any of you have used it before, but i work in aviation and we use mouse milk. a company called aircraft spruce should have it, it is amazing, far more superior to pb blaster or wd 40. kroil is pretty good, but even my dad who used to be a gunsmith used mouse milk. thats the name of the stuff.

Kroil products. Every one of our maintenance guys has 1-2 cans on his tool cart.

Kroil is what I use. Last year I finally broke down and ordered a whole case of the AeroKroil. It'll be enough to last me a decade probably.

Re: Best rust/frozen bolt fixer concoction

Kroil is the best I have used.

My old neighbor gave me a can because I was always working on my rusty trucks. Unfortunately, he moved and my can is getting low. Now I only use the Kroil on my toughest stuff. Liquid Wrench & PB Blaster for the regular stuff.

Anyone know where to purchase Kroil? Haven't seen it in the auto parts stores or hardware stores.

Re: Best rust/frozen bolt fixer concoction

I'm partial to Kroil as well.

I just did a quick search and found this:

http://www.kanolabs.com/google/

2 cans for 12 dollars seems like a deal to me........and WELL worth it.

Eastwood, Aircraft Spruce, and Wicks Aircraft Supply (among others) also sell it.

I second RedNeck. I have yet to see a bolt that presoaked in whatever your favorite penetrant is & then hit with a good hot torch not come out...
