gear review... any input...

I'm getting ready to order some new gear for my car...
(we can pretend it's going into a truck if that helps everyone, lol...)

Here is what I'm thinking:

Infinity 629I 225W (Peak) Two-Way Spakers (Pair)- 6-1/5 x 6-3/4 -Inch (75 RMS max)
Infinity Kappa 6929i 2-Way 6" x 9" Car Speaker - Pair (110 RMS max)
off of - Kenwood Kac-8405 4 Channel 720 Watt Class Ab Amplifier (60 RMS x 4)
I just ran this in my c10 and am very happy with the sound...

2 -Kicker 07CVR12-4 Comp VR Series 12-Inch 4 Ohm 1600 Watt Dual Voice Coil Car Subwoofers list at (400RMS MAX each)
off of - Kenwood X1200M eXcelon Gouriki Mono Digital Power Amplifier (800 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms)
In a sealed box, the box comes out to 2.4 CF of air each.. the speakers call for 1.0 - 4.6CF

I'm not trying to win a sound off or spend crazy money... For the gear above and Power Cap, wires and everything I need to install I'm looking at $800.

Any input?

.

Re: gear review... any input...

This is just my recommendation...I'm no pro, but I've been reading up for the past year trying to only buy once.

1. Upgrade the fronts to the components Infinity Kappa 60.9 cs (90w RMS)
2. Don't run the 6x9s and run the Infiity Kappa 629i 6.5"s in the rear (75w RMS)
3. Don't run that Kenwood amp. I have it and I think my cheap Crunch amp sounds better. I'm going to swap it for Massive Audio amp. Never tried them before, but reasonably priced and supposed put out great power. The V 1000.4 puts out 80w RMS which would be a good match for the speakers above.

For the subs and amp, I've never used either but you have it matched well. I haven't been impressed with Kenwood amps (had 2 now), but with subs it's not as crutial so this should work out just fine.

I saved ya $20 with the 6x9s, but also increased it by $100 with the components and amp change. I think these are well worth it though... Good luck with what ever you decide!

Re: gear review... any input...

Haha...believe me I understand...the more I read, the more confused I get on what I should buy. I always wanted 6x9's for my blazer's rear, but the more I read about 6x9's the more I'm conviced to not run them. Something about the oval cone not producing as good of a sound as a round. The components vs coaxles for the front should just produce a cleaner sound as well as a better mid bass...but the down fall is mounting the tweeter.

The amps I'm taking a gamble since I've never personally heard them, but feel pretty confident they'll be what I'm looking for. I've googled the crap out of them and have yet to read anything bad. They are small and have a clean look to them and produce their advertised rms power cleanly from what the reviews say which is something that you can't always gaurantee unless it comes with a birth sheet and usually a high price tag.

I've done my past few purchases with Sonic Electronix and have been VERY pleased with their customer service, website and especially their shipping...crazy fast of 1 day since I live so close.

Re: gear review... any input...

Yea.. Google and I are close friends... lol...

The biggest reason I went with the speaker package I first listed is the was mid price range and came with great reveiws.. the amp was fan cooled and I'm shoving them in small places.. I was very impressed with it in my c10... the crossovers that come with the speakers do a good job of cleaning up the sound.

I did just find out that the door speakers I need are 6x8/5x7 and the back deck cut out is for a 6x9 but that I can still shove a 6 1/4 in...

I've been ordering everything off Amazon... fast shipping also and the best prices I could find.. I'm thinking about getting my biz license and getting a wholesale account and doing a few installs a month out of my garage.. will see, with all the projects I have going I might not have time for anyone else.. lol..

Thanks..

yeah, each side will have an amp.. I don't think I'll have room to dispaly the cap.. might just get stuck behind the walls..

it's the same amp.. just if I run it at 4 or 2 ohms.. I went with the 2 ohm subs.. now don't go messing with my head their already ordered... hahahahaha

I just got an email from her thanking me for hooking her up with suck a great guy... looks like you guys really hit it off..
nice touch taking her to the home town buffet.... bbbbabababaahahahahahahaa....

so I finished my trunk I mean truck build, lol...

the power cap ending up getting stuck behind the panel on the left, there wasn't enough room to make another cut out (it would hit the inside of the fender housing)

I ended up going with another Kenwood Kac-8405 4 Channel 720 Watt Class Ab Amplifier. Mostly cause I'm happy with the one in my c10 and I was able to build the cut out using the one out of my c10 while I waited for it to get here... I've been told I have no patience, lol....

sounds great, way more bass than I need..

Haha! I told her not to tell anyone...can't trust women now a days...

Looks damn good!!! Very clean install! Do the subs cause any flexing in the body panels? I've never heard those Kicker Comps personally, but everyone raves about them...

I'm really happy with them... I'm getting some real bad rattle in the rear pillars.. i'm going to have to get in there with some mat or foam...

I had to mat my rear plate, and did a lot of the trunk when I had it ripped apart.. I'm hopping I can get to the pillar with out going threw the trunk bacause that box was built IN... lol...

I'm thinking ill pull the trim in side the car, see what it looks like.. I could always cut/drill a few small holes and throw in some foam.. I have to see if that stuff melts in the summer heat...

Re: gear review... any input...

Careful with the foam...make sure you get the kind that doesn't absorb moisture.

It would suck to have to pull those panels down...now I have to make sure that I make mine easily removeable since I have a double wall top and they have to come off to get the top on and off...
