Decisions, Decisions...................

New to this site and wanted some opinions. I just picked up a 1947 1/2 ton and is in sorta okay shape. Some rust here and there such as in the floor but nothing I would consider too terrible. I will be disassembling the truck very soon and will be doing a very mild custom build on this.

The side cowl panel on the drivers side may need to get replaced as it was pushed in by the driver's door at some point. The opinions I was looking for was whether you would keep the side vent on the diver's side or not? I know these vents were only on '47 - '49 pickups, if I remember correctly, and am not sure if it is worthwhile to save the side vent. I will be adding a/c to this truck if that makes a difference.

Re: Decisions, Decisions...................

Thank you for the replies so far. I like the idea of the side vent and I may keep it if I can. I don't know how the side vents are regarding leaks or adding to a lot more road noise. The simplest fix, I guess, would be to put in a new side cowl panel w/o the vent and call it good. I've got a little time to consider this.

Re: Decisions, Decisions...................

I got rid of mine, trying to keep debris and water from getting between the inner and outer cowl, promoting rust again now that it's all fixed. A/C and the cowl vent will do it for me.
