Simple fixes

I think we have all done it. Went to fix the simplest thing and turned it into a major project. I went to adjust my shfter and ended up pulling all of the carpet out to get the center of the floor out. Then saw some wiring under the dash to fix and ended up pulling all of the wiring out of the dash. Now over six months later I have replaces the shifter, rewired the entire truck, removed the seat base and welded all of the holes in the floor up. Installed a new seat. I still have to put the floor back in bed, install new carpet, and 20 other thing I came up with along the way.
I would like to here your story of simple fixes that snow balled.
