tach wires and an HEI

Installing a tach dash in my truck it came with the harness for the tach but i am not sure what to do with the wires under the hood there is 3 of them but they dont seem t go anywhere on the distributor without modification assuming that it is made for a points cap and mine is HEI it looks like 2 of them go to the distributor and one looks like a ground - which wire goes where? any help please a picture would solve a lot
thanks in advance

BLACK ---- goes to a good ground

WHITE OR RED - goes to the fuse box ( I used the headlight fuse )

GREEN ---- goes to the distributor

Hope this helps.....

I know this is off topic.

Firedog you wouldn't be interested in selling the rearend out of your 72 parts truck would you.I have a 6 lug rear I could give you so you could keep it rolling.

I think I saw you a few weeks back. You where turning left down 61 by surdyke and I was turning right going towards desoto off 61 onto 67.We revved at each other. Was that you?

I have a tach in my truck. It is not the factory tach dash. And the green wire goes to the distrubitor on the top where it says tach next to the power wire. The back is ground the red is positive and the white one goes to something that turns on when the headlights are one.Even though I have mine in the same spot as the power wire.

c-10 kid yea i would sell the whole frame to you-- i wave at a lot of people in 67-72s whats your truck look like--anyway the whole frome is for sale i found some wheels i want and need the $$ to buy them

so if i have this right 1 wire to the tach one gets a ground and the other is a 12 volt source could i use the 12 volt going to my distributor? the harness has a plug for the firewall and 3 wires that would be in the engine compartment

thanks again-- c10kid let me know

oh yeah and to put this reply to rest i had 1 red wire and 1 brown wire the red wire had an additional red wire like a tail comming off of it. All i did was hook one of the red wires to the tach spot on my distributor and the tach works like a charm nothing like trial and error i just didnt want to screw up my $250 dash
