Camper Special Brackets

I have a '77 Chevy C20 Camper Special and it has brackets on the left and right side just below winshield frame on fenders. Designed to support sleeper portion that hangs over cab on large camper w/ bars vertical from bracket to sleeper. I want to replace them but can not find! I need places to look or ideas where to find them. I can post pic if necessary but I think lots of Camper Specials have these.

Re: Camper Special Brackets

Have you tried places that sell campers and travel trailers etc? They will likely have something or know where to get them. The brackets you speak of are no doubt not factory but something someone added at some point in its life.

Re: Camper Special Brackets

I think they are factory,I had an 82 3/4 T camper special & It had the same brackets, even showed them in the owners manual if I remember correctly.Mine had a kind of shock absorber in the front of the box as well as the tie down brackets in on the box.I don't think I have a picture of the truck to confirm but will check. You might have to look thru some wreckers to find them.

Re: Camper Special Brackets

As noted these are the factory DELUXE camper special brackets....RPO Z83

If they are original you should have box to cab shocks and mounts in the bed sides for tie downs

And also a rear sway bar

They are nla from GM but not uncommon in wrecking yards and parts boards

Re: Camper Special Brackets

Deluxe camper special brackets

When you ordered Z83 you also got the shocks that hooked to the camper

Those are hard to find now.....

Re: Camper Special Brackets

Yes I do have the brackets just as pictured on the fwd of the cab but I do not have the shocks or brackets where they might have been reomved I have the tie downs outside the bed. 4 on each side of the bed and these massive brackets inside the bed that I was wondering if they were original or aftermarket for 5th wheel drop in? Admin wants to look at my pics - will not let me post pics yet. - Will add them ASAP!

Re: Camper Special Brackets

I'm just curios but I have never seen any thing like any of these pictures I'm assuming the first pic is where you would tie down the corners of your cab overhang as for the shocks I just don't understand what they are supposed to do

Re: Camper Special Brackets

Wow, I did not know that they would be so challenging. I guess the best way to handle this is to rechrome the ones on the truck instead of replace. Silly me! I thought they would be just a matter of looking in a LMC or JCWhitney catalog! I guess I am newer to this truck work than I thought!

Re: Camper Special Brackets

My 77 GMC CC dually has the bed shocks and the mounts for the tie downs on the bed. Dont know if it had the setup on the front fenders. I am 99% sure they were replaced before I got it.
