Dana 60 Swap

I have a good Dana 60 front out of my '93 Cummins I'd like to stick under my '72 K20. The only problem that I can see is that the dodge steering arm raises up instead of drops down. This will make my tie rod angle off. Did Chevy use a dropped steering arm that would fit the dodge axle?

Re: Dana 60 Swap

Dont quote me, but I remember somethign about the Dodge spring perches being 1" wider. The other thing I read somewhere is there is a Dana 51 one out there. I looks like a D60, but has some oddball internals.

Re: Dana 60 Swap

I definitely have a Dana 60. I will have to look a little closer at the width (I thought they were within 3/4").

What steering arm fits?

Re: Dana 60 Swap

You can use the Chevy Dana 60 arm on your Dodge axle..it will bolt right on. I used the Dodge arm on my Chevy 60 and it worked great with a 4" lift..it had to be tapered for the Chevy TRE from the opposite side but its well worth it if your running a lift. You will also have 1/2" wheel studs on the Dodge 60 versus 9/16" on the GM version...thats a simple fix by just using the GM 9/16" studs on your Dodge axle...knurl size is the same between the two.
