** SOLD to TSHORT1. Thanks Toby! **

EDIT: 1/23/13:

These are new ECE 2 1/2" dropped spindles. Test fitted only. The have some surface rust. 63-70 balljoints. The tie rod holes have been drilled out to be used with a Porterbuilt Dropmember rack and pinion setup. GLWS!

I had a question if you don't mind answering. It looks like your running a porterbuilt drop member, what long tube headers are you running on your LS engine? Do they hang below the frame framerails? I know is off topic but if you can get me that info it would be greatly appreciated.

So, will any stock size tie rod work on these with a bastard sleeve. Not familiar with porter built front.

The ones in the pics are big tube Doug Thorleys 323Y. I'm not sure if they will work or not. I need to put the cab back on to verify.

Tim - I'm not sure what a bastard sleeve is. These were drilled out with 5/8" drill. I'm coming to ATL in the morning if u think these will work.

Re: PorterBuilt ECE 2 1/2" dropped spindles

I guess what I'm asking is will they work with a stock tie rod size. 67-70,71-72,73 up? Bastard meant different size on each end.

They were originally made for 68 tie rods, but were drilled out with a 5/8 drill bit so that the heym joints that come with the porterbuilt dropmember kit could connect to the mustang rack. Clear as mud?

Still have them? I have a full big brake drop spindle kit from porterbuilt that I dont plan on using. Only been installed for mock up. I need a smaller disc brake setup. I plan to use factory 71-72 disc brake wheels.

It has 68 balljoints, and the tie-rod holes have been drilled out to use Porterbuilt heym joints to attach to a mustang rack.

Re: PorterBuilt ECE 2 1/2" dropped spindles

Ok I understand that the tie rod hole has been Drilled to 5/8 to accept the heim joints. Do the ball joints come with the spindles or is 230 shipped for just the spindles? Sorry if im making this difficult.

Just the spindles, I don't want to change the balljoints out. No worries, sorry I wasn't clear. I'll give Rusty Wrenches today to respond to whether he wants them or not. If he doesn't, do you?

Re: PorterBuilt ECE 2 1/2" dropped spindles

I am in need of a set for sure, and from what I can tell ECE spindles are 249+ Shipping so you are giving a nice savings but I am a little worried about making a Tie rod fit in the larger hole. I wonder if 71-72 tierods would fit as they are suposed to be larger than the 67-70 I Think. Im doing a little research on that and will let you know as soon as I find that answer.

These spindles are designed to work with balljoints and outer tie rods,... for the 1963-70 model trucks.

Re: PorterBuilt ECE 2 1/2" dropped spindles

I am going to have to pass because of the 5/8 hole being drilled straight through. Im being told that the top of the orginal hole was 5/8 but tappered to about 1/2 at the bottom. so a stock tie rod will not work with out filling the hole and machining the tapper back in to it, more work than Im willing to do. Thanks for your time and the great deal on the Lowering blocks I got from you. Good luck with the sale.
