Any Toyota People???

I just bought my first Toyota today and I was curious if there are any fanatics on this site? I was looking to join some Toyota forums floating around but wasn't sure which ones were decent or not. My truck is a 1992 Toyota 4x4 4cyl single cab. It has 3" suspension lift and 33" tires. I just have some questions and want to make sure I got a good deal. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Any Toyota People???

Not on any forums, but my Pop just recently bought a Tacoma TRD. It's great to drive, much smoother than my c10. I've heard pretty good things about tacomaworld, and pirate4x4 is always a safe bet too.

Thanks Will. Here's my truck, my plans are to paint the wheels black and eventually repaint the entire truck factory gray. Let me know what you think

Re: Any Toyota People???

I'm not really a "Toyota" guy. I have had many, However I work at a Toyota dealer.
I don't really follow values much but its all online. KBB, NADA.
Toyota's have been known to go for more than book value, if its sharp.
If you have any questions about the truck ,PM me if I can't answer it I could ask a tech for ya.
Looks like fun.

Re: Any Toyota People???

vidman, that's beautiful. My Dad's is a '12. So far he's just bought a pair of nerf bars, but he's looking into a brush guard as well. Don't suppose you have a link to the build thread for that do you? I'd love some info on the suspension, bumper and grille

Re: Any Toyota People???

what kind of lift kit did you use?

What's up with the bumper/grille? Custom fabricated or does someone make a kit for that? It looks awesome. I've seen a few custom made ones just wasn't sure about yours because I noticed that gold decal on it.

Re: Any Toyota People???

Alpro offroad makes the custom front bumper. the lift is 4" alcan custom rear leaf springs with timbrem bump stops and the front is OME 886 coils mounted on Bilstein shocks. I went with the 886 coils just because the bumper and winch combo runs about 220 lbs. Also have a set of camburg UCAs with 1 1/4 uniballs and I modified my lowers for caster and camber changes. The grill is something I got on line along with the t-rex eyelids on the headlights

Re: Any Toyota People???

Try:

www.tacomaworld.com

or

www.ttora.com

both are good choices. Pirate4x4.com and advportal are good as well

I'm on TacomaWorld, my DD is an '09 Dbl Cab 4x4 v6 shortbed, with the 6 spd

Re: Any Toyota People???

I don't own one... But one of my buds I run with is a fanatic about them, and one thing I've learned is that the book value doesn't mean squat when it comes to a toyota truck. It seems that they almost always bring more then book. He actually has no job... but he gets online every day scouring the classifieds looking for toyotas that he feels are underpriced, buys em and brings them home and resells for profit.
I'd be afraid to say how many he's owned since I've known him. But he has one that he refuses to sell... it's a longbed 2wd diesel.... it's ugly and beat up... and gets 40+ mpg.

Re: Any Toyota People???

I think I have always had a Toyota 4x4 pick up around.
I love that they are small reliable, and can basically climb a tree...

My current yota is a 2002 TRD SR5 V6 5 speed.
Purchased it new, my one and only vehicle ever purchased new.
Here it is just after upgrading the suspension.
King coil overs, Total Chaos UCA's, and Bilstein rear shocks.
Getting ready to upgrade the rear leafs, and eventually plan to put a ARB or similar front bumper with a Warn winch.

I am a member over at TTORA forums, but I am way to comfortable here at this awesome forum. TTORA is good for some info, but the hang out ability there is dull. Lots of pissing contests, and know it all hot heads...

Toyota Nation might be worth a look also. Don't know how active their 89-95 truck forum is, though. We have a 2005 Tacoma and I'm on the Gen-2 board there sometimes.

Re: Any Toyota People???

Ive owned 2 90's style Toyota pickups, and both were the best used 4x4's I have owned. amazing trucks, rust being the only real bad issue.

check out yotatech.com , it was the most active and down to earth forums I found.

They are Rock Sliders, nerf bars would just crumble if you landed on a rock. They pretty much save your under-body like doors and bed from being all caved in when going over large rocks and traveling on skidder trails.

I actually just joined there the other week. I tried out Pirate4x4 and I made one post and someone freaked out calling me a moron saying it was in the wrong section and I was to delete the post immediately. I made the exact same post on Yotatech and people were complimenting me on my truck and asking questions about it. Much more friendly over there
