running boards custom
I'm building custom smoothed running boards for a 51. plan on bolting to rear fenders like stock, question is...if anyone has done the same....did you bolt the boards to the front fenders or leave a little gap?
trying to decide if being bolted both ends might cause problems if body flexes or rolls... |

Skip99, I fit them to both fenders when I make them. I have done a couple sets like that.

It is hard to see the pics but you could send the builder (1969chevelle) of this Suburban a personal message to ask him how he build these. These were custom full length running boards. You can also see that the front fenders were That's all I got. Marc

You will need a super stiff frame to do one like the blue one above was done and expect it not to crack out when you drive it. Probably not that big of an issue on a pure show truck but a real issue on a truck that is driven.
I've always liked that look though but would rather keep my front fenders separate from the rest of it even if the boards fit right up close to them.
