Mongrel truck

Hello
Thank you in advance for any help or comments.
I am new to this forum . I have been reading a lot , but cannot find the right info.
Here is my story. I received a truck a few years back. I let it sit in the backyard for a time. It is , I was told a 1979 cab on a 1987 frame, with a home made dump body on it. It is a 4x4. The motor is a 305 with a overdrive transmission. The truck does not have lock out hubs. It is tbi.
I have started to work on this truck. I want to fix it up a little . The cab and frame are in good shape. The motor. And other mechanicals are a bit rusty. I have replaced the brake, power steering and transmission cooler lines.
I have not been able to get the motor running correctly. I am looking for a picture or diagram with the various control parts and vacuum lines on it .
On this truck the water temp sending thing is on the front of the manifold. I assume the throttle position sensor is on the passenger side bottom of tb. What does the egr do? Does this truck have a computer and if it does where is it?
The wire that you disconnect to time the motor, if I disconnect it the truck won't start.
What I need to do is identify all the pieces first.

Re: Mongrel truck

It has a computer, or TBI won't run. It's behind the glovebox, silver box thingy....Timing I think is a brown wire.
