Plastic gas tank for fuel injection, will it work?

I have about given up trying to relocate the gas tank inside the cab of my 72 to between the frame rail and drive shaft. Are the plastic tanks that mount between the frame rails at the rear behind the differential suitable for a tuned port fuel injection system running 42-48PSI? Thanks

Yes,the tank is not "under pressure",the pump builds pressure to the fuel regulator and injectors,the return line is under less pressure and the tank is vented.

You may want to look into getting one made out of aluminum, and installing a in-tank pump from a wrecked camaro. This will save you money on the pump, and the in tank pump will be quiter and should last longer.

What kind of problems did you come across? I have toyed with the idea myself.

Its a length, depth and width issue. I measured a late model short bed with the bed off and figured I had about 11" in width to get the same distance from the drive shaft, 9" in depth to avoid a problem with the road and more length than was possible given the cab proximity to get anything but a very small capacity tank. With 9" of depth it would be very difficult to find a sending unit that would work. I have not thrown in the towel completely and since I won't need the tank for another year or so I will keep noodling on it until I say no mas.....

There are a few companys making alum and stainless tanks for behind the diff that can be set-up for injection.Rock valley makes one.You don't have to say no mas, if you don"t mind shelling out some bucks!
